DAY 1 | We will meet at the Virtu Ferries port at 05.00 am to catch the catamaran leaving at 06.30 am. Upon arrival in Pozzallo, we will have a half-day excursion starting from Modica, which is one of southern Sicily’s most distinctive towns which is mainly renowned for its chocolate and coffee-making. After having a relaxing morning, we will head to our hotel – 4* Le Magnolie Resort in Frigintini for check-in, have lunch (included), and some free time to rest. Late afternoon, we will leave for Ragusa Ibla. This city is famous for its incredible cultural attractions such as the Giardino Ibleo and St George’s Cathedral. In Ragusa Ibla you will have enough time to roam around and dine in one of Ragusa Ibla’s dining choices such as pizzerias, trattorias, and also restaurants (extra). Pick-up and transfer to hotel, late evening. DAY 2 | Breakfast will be taken at the hotel (included). Other points of attraction will include Wawel Hill with Royal Castle and its Cathedral, where Polish kings were crowned and buried, and Kanoniczna and Grodzka Streets where the ancient Jagiellonian University areas are found. The afternoon will be dedicated to a trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the most outstanding attractions in Europe and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour of the mine leads through galleries and chambers located on three levels, from 64 to 135 meters below ground level, including the unique and splendidly adorned Chapel of the Blessed Kings. DAY 5 | This day will be dedicated to Ojcow Park – the smallest National Park in Poland and a land of natural beauty full of caves, unusual limestone cliffs, ravines and Jurassic rock formations such as the “Cracovian Gate” and “Club of Hercules”. There will also be a visit to a very well-preserved Renaissance Castle – Pieskowa Skala, situated among forests on a hill overlooking the picturesque Pradnik River valley. The castle is a branch of the Wawel Royal Castle in Krakow. On returning to Krakow, the tour will stop at Kazimierz, one of Krakow’s flagship districts and important centre of cultural life of the city. DAY 6 | Full day trip to Zakopane, the principal Polish mountain resort located at the foot of the majestic Tatra mountains (more than 2,000 metres above sea level). Time to admire the local wooden architecture before hopping into a cable car to Mt. Gubalowka, one of the most beautiful peaks in the Tatras, to view the dramatic scenery. During the day, there will be enough time for souvenir hunting along Krupowki Street in Zakopane, the central area full of local shops, restaurants, cafes and boutiques. Day 7 | Depart from Krakow for transfer to Warsaw. On the way, stop to visit the famous Pauline Monastery of Jasna Góra in the city of Częstochowa. This is the most important Catholic shrine in Poland for the veneration of the Virgin Mary. The image of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa, also known as Our Lady of Częstochowa, to which miraculous powers are attributed, is one of Jasna Góra’s most precious treasures. Pilgrims arrive here throughout the year from around the world. Even for the non-religious, the monastery is an impressive display of Polish piety and patriotism. DAY 8 | A full-day tour of the city will cover the very best of Warsaw. This will include highlights such as the business district of Warsaw and the monumental Palace of Culture and Science towering above the tallest building in Poland. The historical Royal Route is paved with magnificent palaces, churches and monuments, including the Presidential Palace, University of Warsaw, Basilica of the Holy Cross with Fryderyk Chopin’s heart and the Statue of Copernicus. The tour will include a stop by the Royal Castle and a stroll through the Old Town which was carefully reconstructed after the World War II according to original plans (today listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site). On Wednesdays, admission to the Royal Castle is free. In the afternoon, visit the Royal Lazienki Park, which was King Stanislaw August’s summer residence. DAY 9 | Transfer to Gdansk, with a tour of Torun Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) on the way. This historical city is abundant in original Gothic structures that survived numerous wars and invasions, including a magnificent town hall, medieval fortification walls and the Polish “leaning tower of Pisa”. In the middle of the Old Town there is the Living Museum of Gingerbread, welcoming all those who want to learn about the tradition of baking gingerbreads in Torun, the history of the city and its medieval culture. The atmosphere is fantastic with a great deal of humour. Participants can also try baking gingerbread in one of the traditional wooden moulds themselves. Day 10 | Full day tour of Gdansk. Gdansk’s past as the richest Polish port city has given it the present day status as a favourite tourist destination in Poland. Explore the marvellous Old Town of Gdansk including the Long Market Square with its Renaissance style burgher houses, the Main Town Hall, the wonderful Neptune Fountain and Artus Court, the meeting hall of merchants in the times of the Hanseatic League. Visit the Green Gate, the Golden Gate and the biggest redbrick church in Europe, St. Mary’s Church. Walk along Mariacka Street, famous for its charming terraces full of amber jewellery and finally stop at the famous Gdansk Shipyards, the birthplace of the Solidarity movement led by Lech Walesa.
