Polybo AS Polybo AS is a Norwegian company, founded in 2008. It’s a market and knowledge organization, owns the concepts and conducts constant research and development. Polybo AS is the responsible part in the initial phase of the country of establishment worldwide, participating as an active owner and provider of services and products according to needs, to become separate independent units with strong local roots, based on local workforce and primarily local raw materials / resources. Polybo has built up a very strong team with high R&D expertise and innovative environmentally friendly solutions that make us competitive world wide. Design Concept Energy saving Additional products
Environmental qualities The Polyconcrete material is made of cement, recycled expanded polystyrene (80% volume) and water. Polyconcrete represent a major environmental improvement in comparison with traditional building materials such as brick and hollow concrete blocks. Some of the qualities: Polyconcrete houses have a long life span and raw material need is very low and can partly be supplied with recycled EPS Our solution assume that up to 100 % of materials and work force is provided locally. Polyconcrete is a homogenous and environmental friendly material with no organic content and this no bacteria growth due to moisture High degree of fire resistance and good sound insulation Can withstand the most serious earthquake. Low energy consumption High insulation properties Does not burn Light
Mission statement Polybo shall help people solve their housing needs in a manner that provides better quality and more environmental friendly solutions, adapted to local needs, terms and requirements. 4
Environmental aspect Production of old-fashioned clay brick creates mainly three environmental problems: 1. The clay is taken from the top cover and the land cannot be used for agriculture afterwards. Huge amount of valuable agriculture land is spoiled. 2. The old-fashioned burning system uses valuable wood for burning the clay bricks. This is one of the largest polluter of CO2 today. 3. As the clay used for production contains salt, this has to be washed away from the clay bricks after production using clean water. This is creating a big problem for the drinking water. Sand in concrete: Sand is one of the world’s most highly-coveted commodities and is mined extensively as a construction material. Rapid economic growth in Asia drives global demand, straining supplies of a nonrenewable resource. Pressures on sand resources have grown exponentially over the past three decades, especially due to rapid urbanization in China. However, finite inland resources cannot sustain China’s demand
The concept Qualities in the material This gives better indoor and environmental qualities as well as a competing price in a low cost market. The houses can be built with blocks (instead of bricks) and based on local architectural traditions and craftsmanship. Alternatively Polybo have developed new solutions with Polyconcrete elements and industrial house production in larger scales.
Benefits The polyconcrete block is more then 10-15 times more insulated that the ordinary concrete block, and weighs about 250 kg/m3. Some of the benefits: § Light weight so it can carry more block at a time § Polybo house construction can withstand the most serious earthquake § Save construction time § Save labor and masons due to bigger in size § Save reinforcement due to light weight

Well tested and proofed All possible tests have been performed. The tests are performed by among other SINTEF. The SINTEF Group is the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia. Local tests have also been performed for example in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Tests include insulation values, fire safety, structural properties, water absorbing etc.

Business market Polyconcrete blocks will also have a very big market for extension of existing buildings, infill walls, roof top insulation, fire insulation etc. The product has unique properties compared to insulation, and with its weight it is very suitable for use in existing buildings, and of course in new constructions.
Heat insulation Due to the low weight and the material unique insulation properties. • Factories and offices in Bangladesh 15

Concept for industrial produced element houses Polybo have developed a method for industrial production of reinforced large poly-concrete elements and element frames. (patented by Polybo) This makes us competitive as a large-scale supplier of monumental, commercial pre-fab houses in the industrial world, floor- and roof elements for industrial or multi-story home building market for temporary homes, office appliances (barracks) for stores or storage buildings, factory buildings 22
