“TELL ME, AND I FORGET. TEACH ME, AND I REMEMBER. GREETINGS TO THE PERRY COMMUNITY T hank you to the many parents and community members that responded to our recent Communications Survey. Your involvement in this exercise has helped us learn how we can become better equipped to serve the needs of those who are most important to us…the children of Perry. By encouraging productive dialogue, we are able to build strong, lasting relationships that are so important to learning, within and beyond the classroom. To continue meeting the needs of our students as they work to become successful contributors in our society, we must build skill at adjusting and adapting while we teach our youth to do the same. Our methods of instruction will evolve to provide our students with the skills necessary to thrive today and in the future. We take pride in employing research- based innovative programming that includes Design Learning, Standards-based Learning, STEM pathways, Internship, and Entrepreneurship opportunities, to name a few. We learn ways to be more responsive to changes in our financial situations, and to streamline the physical operation of the day to day District needs. Through prudent fiscal policies, comprehensive infrastructure maintenance, and the conservative management of human resources, we continue to provide the high quality educational environment our families expect and our students deserve. And finally, with the memories of the tragic events that have occurred in schools across the country emblazoned on our hearts and in our minds, we remain committed to continuous practice and preparation for these type of events with hopes we will never have to use any of it. Through our frequent Community Safety Committee planning meetings, ongoing emergency training for stakeholders, and regularly scheduled school-wide drills involving County safety forces, we learn the most effective methods of keeping everyone at Perry Schools safe and secure. We have learned the importance of building a positive culture. We know that we don’t control the events in our lives and we cannot control the outcomes. What we do control is our response to them. We believe in pursuing greatness, the power of relationships, and taking personal responsibility to Get Better Every Day, be Stronger Together, and be Prepared for Life. While we do so much at Perry Local Schools, please remember that the most important thing we can do is to keep our students and staff safe and focused on why we all our here...to learn. Looking forward to another great school year! Sincerely, Dr. Jack Thompson State Board of Education Momentum Award R. A. Horn - Vietnam Veterans Franklin B. Walter Awards Moving Wall
