The trial was performed using global SIMs from Deutsche Telekom on Vodafone Spain’s network and global Vodafone SIMs on T-Mobile Austria’s network and commercial NB-IoT modules. • Ericsson expects most global operators to deploy both NB-IoT and LTE-M in parallel from 2019. Operators would no longer be deciding between the two technologies as has been the case over the past two years. • AT&T announced plans to roll out a new NB-IoT network in the US and Mexico, a move it said will add more deployment options to complement the offerings already available on its LTE-M network. • GSMA announces winners of 2018 Asia Mobile Awards: China Telecom and Huawei for NB-IoT and IoT platform commercialization • Telit provides LTE-M Module for NTT DoCoMo smart cities trial in the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town trial. 3
Sigfox • Sigfox Connect - the flag ship event of Sigfox will take place 24-25 of October 2018 in Berlin expecting more than 150 booths and 2000 visitors from the IoT industry. • French tire manufacturer Michelin, together with compatriot IoT connectivity provider Sigfox, has launched a new solution for tracking sea-freight containers. • Sigfox USA announces Coverage as a Service (CaaS), a simple self-install kit including a base station that provides coverage where a customer needs it. • LITE-ON cooperates with STMicroelectronics to bring Ultra-Low-Power Sigfox-Verified Modules to the IoT Market. • Sigfox has signed network contract in several new countries in the middle of the year according to Detecon market information. LoRaWAN LIVE will be a special 1-day program focused on advancing business development opportunities across LPWA ecosystem and will be open also for end-users of LoRaWAN. • Google Cloud joins LoRa Alliance as sponsor member, backing the open LoRa standard. Google Cloud’s participation in the LoRa Alliance should strengthen the effort to realize value from IoT data. • SenRa, a PAN India LPWAN provider, has partnered with PNI Sensor to bring smart parking solutions to cities across India. The solution combines LoRaWAN™ technology, connectivity and an end-to-end Smart Parking solution, for precision location, motion tracking and sharing of data associated with open parking spaces. • Orange Moldova and the water utility SA Apa Canal cooperating to create and implement a new smart waste consumption solution including also fast detection and reporting of leaks and malfunction based on LoRaWAN in Moldova. • Actility has struck a deal with mapping and location company HERE Technologies to integrate HERE’s positioning capabilities into its own LoRaWAN management platform. It should mean that users can “pinpoint” their assets accurately and continuo- usly in both indoor and outdoor environments.
