School Structure Maitland Christian School was commenced in 1983 by Metford Community Baptist Church. It continues to be a vital ministry of this Church and partners with the broader Church community to provide schooling to families who are seeking a Christ-focused quality education. The School is autonomously governed by a board of directors that contains a majority of members from the founding Church and is affiliated with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) NSW. The Maitland Christian School Limited Board is a governance board focusing on strategic direction, resourcing and risk management. The School enjoys a close association with other regional CSA schools in Taree, the Hunter Valley and the Central Coast. This is manifested through sporting and cultural links for students and professional development links for staff and school leaders.
School Structure Continued The School, located in the East Maitland suburb of Metford, was initially called Metford Christian Community School but was renamed as Maitland Christian School in 1998 to be more easily identified as the Christian School serving Maitland and its surrounding districts. In 2020, Maitland Christian School established Arise Christian College as a school of specific purpose to further enhance Christian Educational opportunities in the Maitland Area. The acquisition of the Chelmsford Drive Early Learning Centre in 2020 has expanded the School's ministry into the early childhood sector. The School's drawing area is predominantly from the Maitland Local Government Area, but the School also draws students from outlying rural areas and other adjoining Local Government Areas. Maitland Christian School is a Prep - 12 school with a current student enrolment of close to 600 students in a Prep class, fourteen primary classes, eight junior secondary classes, and steady cohorts of Year 11 and 12 students.
School Structure Continued The School moved to its current site in January 1991 and is well resourced and progressing through significant site upgrades and additions as part of its overall masterplan. Most recent projects include the addition of Arise Christian College building, the covering and upgrading of the school sports courts, and extra Infants and Primary classrooms. Further building expansion programs are planned for the 2022 school year and beyond, subject to final government signoff. At the beginning of 2005, Metford Community Baptist Church, the governing Church of the School, completed a new facility on land adjoining the School. This facility incorporates a full-sized indoor basketball court, an auditorium and additional rooms. These Church facilities are available for daily school use. The School also has access to the adjacent council oval during school hours. The Maitland Christian School curriculum covers all Key Learning Areas. Maitland Christian School has current Prep-12 registration status and 7-12 accreditation status until 31.12.23 with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Arise Christian College has full NESA registration and accreditation for Years 1 – 10 until 31.12.25 and initial registration for Kindergarten and Year 11 in 2022.

The LNAP program was a joint State and Federal Government program across a multiple-year timeframe. The LNAP was implemented in 2013 as a significant literacy intervention from K – 2 with a reworking of literacy programs, quality teaching practices and assistance for students performing below benchmark across the School. This has developed into an evidence-based Explicit Teaching framework across the School from Prep – 12 and actively supported by instructional coaching. Statement of Faith We believe in the Divine inspiration, the infallibility and supreme authority of the Old and New Testaments in their entirety and that the Holy Spirit so moved the writers that what they wrote are authoritative statements of truth for all matters of faith and conduct. We believe there is one God in whom there are three equal Divine Persons, revealed as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and who of His own sovereign will created the heavens, the earth and all that is contained within the Universe. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternally existing, only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. As God, He became flesh and dwelt among us; as man He was God. We believe all men and women are in a fallen, sinful and lost condition through the rebellion of Adam and Eve, who were created without sin, and in this state of depravity, are helpless to save themselves and are under the condemnation of God to eternal punishment in Hell. We believe that the salvation from the penalty and consequences of sin is found only through the substitutionary, atoning death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Statement of Faith We believe it is the Holy Spirit alone who convicts men and women of sin; leads them to repentance; creates faith within them and regenerates and fills those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord. It is the indwelling Spirit who bestows the Gifts of the Spirit and manifests the Fruit of the Spirit in the believer. We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and the third day rose from the dead; that He appeared to men and women who touched Him and knew his bodily presence and that He ascended to His Father. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return in person with His saints and that the full consummation of the Kingdom of God awaits His return. We believe those who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit will receive a resurrection body at the return of Jesus Christ and be forever with the Lord, while those who have not believed will be resurrected to stand at the Judgement Seat of God to receive His judgement and eternal condemnation to Hell. We believe in the actual existence of Satan who is the father of all evil and opposed to God although ultimately subject to the purposes of God and destined to be confined forever to Hell.
Statement of Faith We believe the Church is the Body of Christ composed of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, which finds its visible manifestation in the local community of believers and ministers through the co-operative exercise of God-given gifts by the entire membership. Each local community of believers is competent under Christ as Head of the Church to order its life without interference from any authority whether civil or ecclesiastical. We believe there are two ordinances instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ: Believer's Baptism upon profession of faith, and The Lord's Supper which is a memorial and proclamation of the Lord's death until He returns.
