Also make sure that the thick end of the connector is pointing down towards the ground, and the ‘elbow’ is pointing in. Inset the legs, with the connecters on them, into the lower tray (3). Screw the connecters (4) to the lower tray (3) using the nuts and bolts provided (5). Take the upper legs (4) and insert them into the lower tray (3). Then insert the base rack (6) onto the top of the upper legs. Insert the aluminium reflector tray (7) into the base rack. Before use make sure to fill the reflector with water between the minimum and the maximum levels. Insert each side tray (8) into the base tray by clipping it into the holes. Insert the heating element (9) into the base tray. The thermostat will fit into the gap at the front of the base. Add the metal grill (10) to the top of the heating element. Line up the pattern on the bottom of the metal grill to the heating element’s coils. Take the wind shield (11) and clip it into the four holes on the back of the base tray. Take the warming shelf (12) and insert it into the holes in the wind shelf. *If you wish to just use the BBQ without the lower tray follow steps 6-11, ensuring that the BBQ is rested on a flat, secure and heat resistant surface. Caution: Never use the appliance without water in the reflector tray, always ensure that the water level is between the minimum and maximum marks. Caution: When adding water to the reflector tray, always make sure the water does not come into contact with the heating element. 6
Operational instructions Ensure that the water level in the aluminium reflector tray is between the minimum and maximum marks. Water is required to reflect heat and minimise the amount of smoke produced during the cooking process. Switch the appliance on and set the temperature using the control dial. The appliance will heat up automatically until the selected temperature is reached. The element will then switch off until the heat falls below the selected temperature upon which the element will switch on again. This ensures that a constant temperature is maintained. The indicator light will be lit whenever the element is heating and the grill will turn off when the element stops. The grill rack can be placed at various heights by placing it in one of the three holes located on the base rack. Power consumption depends on the thermostat setting. For lengthy grilling it is advisable to set the temperature to high as “MAX”. When you have finished grilling turn the control dial to “MIN” and take the plug out of the mains socket. The appliance will now cool down. Do not move the appliance until it has fully cooled down. Grilling The appliance can be used to grill food such as sausages, meat, fish and vegetables etc. always ensure that the food is placed directly onto the grill rack. Do not cover the grill rack with materials such as aluminium foil or transparent film. Always ensure that the food is thoroughly cooked before consuming. Cleaning Before cleaning always remove the plug from the socket and let the appliance cool down completely. Remove the heating element and thermostat from the base of the plastic cooking element. 7
Never immerse the plug, power cable, heating element or the thermostat in any liquids. These parts must be wiped with a dry cloth. Never immerse the plug, power cable, heating element or the thermostat in any liquids. These parts must only be wiped with a dry cloth. The grill rack can be cleaned with a soft brush. Tip: After grilling let the grill rack cool down and then cover it with damp tea towels and let it soak for 30-60 minutes. In order to ensure that the unit works correctly it may be necessary to remove lime scale deposits from the water tray. Storage After use, clean the product as above and store in a dry, secure location. Do not expose the appliance to rain or other damp conditions. Troubleshooting If the indicator light fails to come on, this is normally due to the heating element being incorrectly inserted into the base rack. Insert the heating element correctly and turn the appliance on again. Caution! Repairs carried out by an unauthorised person may cause damage to the product and injury to persons. We reserve the right to make modifications to the structure or design of the unit in the interests of further technical developments. 8
