INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the latest edition of our Halaal Booklet.
This is a very difficult period for the world at large as many
countries continue to be in the grips of the Coronavirus
pandemic. Alhamdulillah, here in Trinidad and Tobago, we
have largely been spared from the extent of illness and
death seen in many other countries. We ask the Almighty
Allah (SWT) to continue to protect us from this terrible
plague and remove it from all nations.
During this period as well, many restaurants and food
places were forced to close including our halaal food
places. Through the mercy of Allah (SWT) however, almost
all of these places have re-opened and have been
recertified by the Darul Uloom Halaal Committee (DUHC).
It is therefore our hope that you will continue to patronize
these outlets as they attempt to survive in these trying
times. Remember that they make the sacrifice of
purchasing local meats which are many times more
expensive than foreign non-certified meats. Additionally
they ensure that they are halaal certified so Muslims can
eat there with confidence.
In this booklet, we have also included some new
information on food items, snacks and have also included
information on fast food outlets. We hope this is helpful. As
usual, please remember to look carefully at the halaal
certificates at the store ensuring that the certificate is
specific to the store itself and that it has not expired.
