Share Siteminder login with troubleshooting download • In previous versions, the login process to download troubleshooting material was completely separate from the login process used to download unit/programming data from the server. • For 8.13, the login process is unified. The user only have to login once during the use of the tool. • If the user logs in to download troubleshooting material, they would not need to subsequently log in again when downloading unit/programming data. And vice versa. Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 7
Configure which troubleshooting will trigger a banner warning • It was reported that some users only have access to certain troubleshooting manuals. • For example, there are users who are not permitted to access troubleshooting material for the DT12 transmission. • For 8.13, we allow configuration of the banner warning indicating when a manual is missing or out of date. A user can permanently select to opt out of warnings for a specific troubleshooting manual. If desired, all warnings can be turned off. • The “Troubleshooting Guides” dialog will now list all manuals. The user is therefore free to download a manual at any time, even when a warning is not shown and they do not already have the content. Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 8
Parameter error “DiagService refused” needs clarity • For various reasons, writing parameters to an ECU might fail. • When this happens, the CAESAR system (upon which DiagnosticLink is based) does not – by default – provide a descriptive reason for the failure. The error in former versions would be simply “DiagManager 06067:DiagService refused”. • This is unfortunate because the meaning of the error – the ‘negative response code’ - is usually important when an engineer is trying to diagnose the cause of the issue. The reason may also be useful to a technician. • Following the model of VEPS, for 8.13 we have implemented a custom way of reporting the negative response code in the tool. • The example here shows the additional content “Security access denied (NRC $33)”; this is a more meaningful reason for failure. Indication of CHEC settings could use refinement • DiagnosticLink 8.12SP2 introduced the indication of the presence of CHEC settings in the user interface. • It was noted that there were a couple of refinements to be made to clarify the status of these settings. • The “Select operation” page of Program Device will now indicate which types of CHEC parameters are provided (part number and/or name/value pair). • This indication is probably not very useful to a technician but would be useful to the diagnostics or development team to clarify the status of a unit. • We also indicate that these are proposed settings which may not yet have been programmed to an ECU. Include 49X troubleshooting material for download • DiagnosticLink 8.13 includes the ability to download Western Star 49X troubleshooting material. • Once the content is downloaded, fault linking is supported from faults that are reported by chassis devices. • When showing linked content, the troubleshooting view will indicate the source of the content, e.g. “49X Electrical Systems and Troubleshooting Manual” Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 11
Include 49X troubleshooting material for download (cont.) • The tool now has the ability to view the “internal” detected or derived vehicle type. • This might be necessary if the tool is not linking to the correct troubleshooting manual. The derived vehicle type determines which manual we link to. • This used to be shown in the header bar directly but has been replaced by the more detailed information. • Tooltips (mouse hover) are provided for both the VIN derived information and the detected equipment types. Complete VIN derived information Detected equipment types Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 12
IPM and Virtual Technician panels are missing map images • Mapping API has been updated to use Microsoft Bing maps • Map can now be zoomed using mouse scroll wheel • IPM panel shows reported location of device • Virtual Technician panel will show reported location and previous 15 locations stored in device Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 13
Decode Vin information to support identification • The tool now allows more detailed detection of the connected truck • Decoding details are imported from the service manuals and can be updated with more models easily in the future • Necessary as an intermediary step towards detection of models as the trucks become more complicated and similar in electronics Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 14
Additional Changes Record usage of package programming operation to Reservoir • Program Device operations using the package programming feature will have a tag added to the event data sent to the server for later reporting and viewing Send updated fault list to TechLane on request • At request of TechLane website (clicking button) DiagnosticLink will send a refreshed list of fault information to the server Send device and equipment type to TechLane • As part of the fault information we will now include additional information to help filter the diagnostics offered to the technician Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 15
Modernize the Set Odometer function for P4 platform vehicles • Ability to set CPC and Instrument Cluster odometer with one operation • Ability to sync CPC to instrument cluster or vice versa Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 16

DT12 Transmission Learn Procedure • Updated the “Transmission Learn Procedure” panel to list “Learn Clutch Only” as the default learn type , instead of “Learn Transmission and Clutch” • Concern raised was that, if the clutch portion fails, during the clutch and transmission learn, the truck could exhibit a no crank condition and can lead to unnecessary diagnostics and wasted time Service Diagnostics & Tools Daimler Trucks 23
