Curlin Filly Tops
OBS Spring Third Day

The third day of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale produced the third day
of positive numbers as gross sales, average and median all showed an increase
compared to the third day of the Spring Sale last year.
Gross sales totaled $14,491,000 from 155 juveniles compared to the same day
last year when 163 head sold for $11,151,000 and increase of 29.9%. The average
price went from $68,411 a year ago to $93,490 Thursday, amounting to a 35.7% in-
crease. The median jumped from $40,000 a year ago to $50,000 Thursday.
Hip 830, a daughter of Curlin consigned by de Meric Sales as an agent went
for $670,000 to Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC. Out of Grade 2-winner Funny
Proposition, by Medaglia d’Oro, the bay filly worked an eighth-mile in :10.20 at
the Thursday under tack session. Funny Propositon is a daughter of stakes-win-
ner and stakes-producer Humorous Miss.
Hip 644 went to Lauren Carlisle as an agent and Myracehorse.com for
$625,000. Consigned by de Meric Sales as an agent, the chestnut colt is by Flat-
ter out of the stakes-place mare Co Cola, by Candy Ride (Arg). The colt is a half-
brother to stakes-winner and Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1)-contender Search
Results and Co Cola is a half-sister Kingdom Road, a Grade 1 placed-runner in
Peru. The colt worked an eighth-mile in :10.20 at the Thursday under tack session.
Hip 786 went for $575,000 to Gayle Van Leer as an agent. The dark bay or
brown colt is by Pioneerof the Nile out of Fancy Day (Ire), by Shamardal. Fancy
Day is out of the Grade 2 stakes-winner Tizdubai and a full sister to Horse of the
Year Tiznow, Grade 2-winner Budroyale and stakes-winner Tizbud. The colt
worked a bullet quarter-mile in :20.80 at the under tack session Thursday.
Hip 744 sold for $425,000 to Mike Ryan as an agent from the consignment of
de Meric Sales as an agent. The dark by or brown colt is by Curlin out of Elti-
maas, by Ghostzapper and is a half-brother to Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) and mul-
