PAGE 4 SPOTLIGHT Goodbye Brenda, Hello Brie! BGHP WOULD LIKE TO THANK BRENDA FOR ALL OF HER HARD WORK! We say a BIG Thank You to Brenda Garcia, RN, who held the temporary position of Resource Development Coordinator from August through December. She did a great job working with our volunteers and Sales for Survivors businesses! We wish Brenda all the best as she moves into her nursing career. And, we are not saying good-bye! Brenda came to the role after volunteering as a Warmliner and she will continue to be a Warmliner. She's also starting a monthly Facebook Latina Breast Cancer Support Group thanks to grant funding from the McLean Foundation. BGHP WELCOMES NEW STAFF MEMBER, BRIE! Hello BGHP community, I'm Brieanne Mirjah and I am so excited to work with all of you as the Volunteer & Development Communications Coordinator! Previously, I have worked in customer service, marketing and sales roles. Most recently, I worked for the American Cancer Society overseeing community relationships and the Relay For Life virtual event. It is an honor to be with the BGHP team and I hope to utilize my digital marketing and fundraising experience to grow the BGHP footprint. I have big shoes to fill after a wonderful job Brenda has done in this role - best of luck Brenda as you pursue your nursing career! On a personal note, I am an avid adventurer and love seeing new sights and meeting new people. I ran my first and only marathon in Antarctica and hope to travel more in the future. Until then, you can find me snuggled up at home with my two kitties and loving husband!

PAGE 7 Virtual Cancer Support Groups Leukemia & Lymphoma (Blood Cancers) Support Group This peer-led group provides support for clients from early diagnosis to life beyond treatment, for both acute and indolent lymphomas and blood cancers. Prior to COVID-19, the L & L Group met at the Breast and GYN Health Project (BGHP). The co- facilitators--Carolyn Lehman, MA, and Amanda Devons, MSW--are former BGHP clients who saw the need for information and support. They asked the Project to provide a meeting place and logistical assistance and in March, 2015, the Lymphoma/Blood Cancer Group was formed. The group has evolved over the last six years in response to client needs. During Covid-19 we meet virtually via Zoom and phone in. The group is open to people of all ages who are newly diagnosed or in active treatment, as well as people living beyond treatment. Members call in from throughout the Northcoast. The facilitators are both lymphoma survivors. Amanda is a social worker with extensive group experience, and Carolyn, who also helped form the first GYN group at BGHP, has many years of peer support group leadership. They both are experienced with stem cell transplant and clinical trials. The L & L Support Group is for people of all ages with blood All people dealing with blood cancer or lymphoma are welcome, cancers.
