programmes English language ability levels All Globeducate schools offer English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and Blyth Academy also offers academic courses. English levels are described below according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Choose from a variety of courses to suit your child’s interests, Beginners (A1 – A2) whether they wish to focus purely on language or to combine it with a specialist option. Students should be able to understand and use familiar everyday language and phrases and be able to interact in a simple way. They should be able to introduce themselves and ask and answer basic questions and be able to name familiar everyday objects. Intermediate (B1 – B2) Students should be able to use and understand language related to their own lives and daily routine. They should be gaining confidence in talking about their lives e.g. work, school, leisure and be starting to deal with less familiar situations. Some may be able produce text on topics which are familiar and describe experiences and events. Advanced (C1 – C2) Students are starting to interact fluently in English and can write clearly and accurately on a range of topics. They may have a good vocabulary associated with specialist subjects and will be able to differentiate between social, colloquial language and business/ formal language.
