FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” - Aristotle Dear Parents, In the pursuit of excellence in academics, the true meaning of education is many a times lost. Education does not only encompass the intellect; it is about enlightening the spirit and the body; it is about serving the society and the nation, preserving nature and protecting communities as well. At School Of India, we engage the students in developing this spirit of service along with academics through various activities with a firm belief that each one of them will in future take this thought forward in building a compassionate world. We continue to strive with dedication so as to make the vision of School Of India a reality. We invite you to be partners in this journey and solicit your support in all our endeavours. Looking forward to a fruitful academic year. Warm regards, Principal 15

THIS IS MY PRAYER TO THEE This is my prayer to thee, my lord---strike, strike at the root of penury in my heart. Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows. Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service. Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees before insolent might. Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles. And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love. SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS 1. There shall be showers of blessing: This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Saviour above. Chorus : Showers of blessing, Showers of blessing we need: Mercy-drops round us are falling, But for the showers we plead. 2. There shall be showers of blessing, Precious reviving again; Over the hills and the valleys, Sound of abundance of rain. 3. There shall be showers of blessing; Send them upon us, O Lord; Grant to us now a refreshing, Come, and now honour Thy Word. 4. There shall be showers of blessing: Oh, that today they might fall, Now as to God we’re confessing, Now as on God we call! 5. There shall be showers of blessing, If we but trust and obey; There shall be seasons refreshing, If we let God have His way. 24

SPECIAL PRAYERS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOLASTIC YEAR O God, Source of all wisdom, we thank You for granting us the grace to begin another year in school. Help us not to waste any of its days, not fail in any of its opportunities, not to neglect any of our studies. Assist us in performing our duties, that we may never be indifferent or careless, but to be always diligent, conscientious and disciplined. Do not let us lose courage when things do not go as they should go, rather let us keep on trying with determination, till we succeed. Help us never to speak or act in such a way that we would hurt other’s feelings. Guide us to co-operate with our teachers, to pay full attention in class, to have the spirit of sportsmanship and to behave honourably in school as well as outside it. Make us remember that You are seeing us all the time, and that actually we live in You and in You we have our being. Help us not only to begin the year well, but also to go through it successfully till the end. All this we ask with deep faith in your loving care. Amen BEGINNING OF EXAMINATION Oh God help me at my examination today to remember the things which I have studied. Keep me from being nervous so that I will be able to do my best Give me the calmness and the concentration I need to do well.
