YOUR DAY GETTING STARTED Depending on what course you choose you may come to college every day (Monday to Friday) or on certain days only. Students can stay on site after the end of their lessons to study in designated study areas, including our Learning Resource Centre. When you join us you will be given a timetable that is personal to you. You may have later starts, staggered lunch times or earlier finishes. It is your responsibility to ensure that you attend all your lessons, coaching sessions and enrichment periods on your personal timetable. Unlike at school, you will not spend all your time in lessons. Any ‘free’ periods on your timetable are designated as ‘study periods’ for you to use for independent study, making use of the facilities in college or working at home. You are expected to do a minimum of 15 hours’ independent study per week. 22 www.havering.ac.uk 23
