CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE CODE CHANGES
Some SAIT Continuing Education course codes and/or course names have changed for the upcoming 2019/20 academic
year. These changes are intended to simplify curriculum management and delivery of these courses to our students.
Examples of these changes include:
• ”PROJ-219” changed to “PROJ-001” (course code)
• ”Negotiation Essentials” changed to “Negotiation Skills” (course name)
If you have successfully completed any course that has a new code or name, you will not be affected and will continue to
receive acknowledgment for the course and are able to apply it to a credential.

Training employees pays
big dividends
Mullen Group — a trucking/logistics and oilfield services company — turned to SAIT
Corporate and International Training Solutions to develop their leadership talent.
INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
With 6,600 workers across Canada, training 25 people at a time in a classroom didn’t provide Mullen with
the necessary reach and wasn’t a cost-effective solution. Fortunately, both Mullen and SAIT were excited to
harness the power of technology to help meet training needs.
ANYTIME, ANYWHERE
SAIT developed a custom online training portal to reach out to more workers across the country. Online
classes were created with the support of SAIT curriculum development, and a SAIT instructor was available
to students as they worked through training modules.
RESULTS FOCUSED
Within four weeks of launching the online training portal, 500 people had enrolled in leadership training.
Thirty-five per cent of program graduates are now in a leadership role with higher retention rates amongst
workers who participated in training.
The new Business Management certificate format is not just good – it is world
class. Education and skills upgrading is our future and with the new program we
are providing everyone in our organization with a path to continuing education,
career advancement and a better, more quality focused workplace!

SAIT academic upgrading courses prepare students for admission to SAIT career programs. For SAIT Learner and
program admission requirements, refer to the appropriate sections of the SAIT Academic Calendar. SAIT Academic Services
academic upgrading courses are Alberta high school equivalency courses, not Alberta Education courses. 403.284.8923

SAIT academic upgrading courses provide students with a flexible approach for their transition into post-
secondary studies. Courses can be taken part-time or full-time in the day, evening or online. Students
become accustomed to the SAIT environment and culture and develop successful strategies for learning.

English Language Foundations
The English Language Foundations (ELF) program provides English language upgrading for learners whose Learner and
first language is not English. ELF is a 5-level program and each level has two courses: one in reading and Academic Services
writing (COMN), and the other in listening and speaking (SPCH). 403.210.4045

Students are placed into the program based on demonstrated proficiency in English, using the Canadian
Language Benchmarks Assessment (CLBA) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
examination. Most students use the ELF program as entry into SAIT career programs.
