The Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara are opening their doors once again at 10 a.m. after they were closed for a year and a half due to COVID-19 protocols. The casinos will be able to reopen to 50 percent capacity, and new safety features will be in place including barriers between machines. Physical distancing requirements will be in place and everyone inside the casinos must wear a mask. All entertainment performances at the two popular destinations will remain temporarily paused. Over 1,000 employees were called back to work last week to prepare for the opening. Officials say more employees will be called back as further amenities reopen and the casinos reach sustainable business levels. Before the pandemic, the two casinos employed over 4,000 people. Casinos in the province were allowed to reopen to the public a week ago as Ontario moved into Step 3 of the Reopening Plan. Niagara's casinos will open their doors back up next Friday. The Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara will re-open on July 23rd at 10am after sitting empty for a year and a half. Invitation only events will be held on July 21 and 22. Both properties were shut down on March 16th, 2020 in line with provincial measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. Ontario moves into Step 3 of the reopening plan this Friday, which allows casinos to reopen to 50% capacity. Customers will be given 'momentum cards' when they enter the casino for contact tracing purposes. Physical distancing of at least two metres will be in place, and masks will be required. Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes will be available for customers, and along with enhanced cleaning. "As we begin re-opening on July 23, we appreciate the cooperation of our guests and associates as we work to welcome guests back to property. Things will re-open in a phased approach with limited amenities available at the onset to ensure a safe environment for all." Fallsview Casino Resort will be open 24/7 and offerings will include the hotel, gaming floor, slots, electronic table games, select dining establishments, the parking garage and Galleria shops and dining amenities. Limited table games will open at Fallsview on July 30th. Casino Niagara will be re-opening from 10am to 2am daily with the last entry permitted at 1:15am. Offerings will include the gaming floor, slots, electronic table games, Perks Café, and the Chill Bar. At this time, table games and the poker room will not be available at Casino Niagara. All entertainment performances at Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara will remain temporarily paused until Provincial direction is given. When Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino reopened on June 10 in Niagara Falls, New York, you can be certain that a pair of Niagara Falls tourist attractions were looking across the Niagara River with envy. Both Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls have been closed since March 2020. While eligible to open last summer during that brief window when social protocols around COVID-19 relaxed, the numbers didn’t work for either. However, this time around, Ontario casinos will be able to reopen when Ontario hits Stage Three, possibly as early as July 23.Niagara Region residents who like to scoot down to the Falls to gamble have been stuck playing online and those who simply enjoy the ambience of a casino have been sitting at home, staring at the TV in their living rooms. But the big question is: Will they open?In July 2020 when Ontario’s ‘Framework for Reopening our Province’ Stage Three began, it did allow casinos, bingo halls and gaming establishments to reopen, but with a gathering limit of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors, not including staff. In the end, neither casino bothered to reopen based on those numbers. While this year’s Stage Two allows 25 per cent indoor capacity, a significantly higher amount of people, it hasn’t been made clear how much that percentage will jump, if at all, in Stage Three.Neither Fallsview Casino nor Casino Niagara have made a single reference to reopening on any of their social media platforms, even though they will be eligible in as little as 16 days. After being closed for 16 months straight, clearly there would be issues with reopening, number one being staffing. It would take both casinos some time to restaff their facilities. It would take even longer for Fallsview, owned by Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, to restaff as it has an attached hotel. Casino Niagara, formerly owned by Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation but now also owned by Mohegan, is a stand-alone property - just the casino - so it would be considerably easier to restaff.Even the gambling mecca of the universe, Las Vegas, is struggling with staffing issues right now despite the fact that Nevada is wide-open to business and welcoming tourists again. Slightly more than half the city’s restaurants remain closed because owners simply cannot find staff. With both Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino staying mum on reopening, it would seem more likely that they will start slowly rebuilding their staff during Stage Three and just wait until Stage Four when the province opens back up completely.(Photo of Fallsview Resort and Casino courtesy of INFO-Niagara) Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara will reopen on July 23, so if you've been itching to roll the dice or try your luck at the slot machines, you won't have to wait much longer.Their return after over a year of closure will roll out in a "phased approach with limited amenities available at the onset to ensure a safe environment for all."Richard Taylor, president of Niagara Casinos, said they are looking forward to welcoming back guests with health and safety as their top priority."We are incredibly grateful for the efforts and sacrifices everyone has made over the past sixteen months that have made it safe for us to reopen our doors."What will their hours be?Fallsview Casino Resort will be open all day and night, seven days a week. Casino Niagara will be open every day from 10 a.m.to 2 a.m. However, guests won't be able to enter the casino after 1:15 a.m.What amenities are opening?Casino Niagara will open with access to the " [..] gaming floor, slots, electronic table games, Perks Café, and the Chill Bar."However, table games and the poker room will be closed for the time being.Fallsview Casino Resort will open with amenities like their " [...] hotel, gaming floor, slots, electronic table games, select dining establishments, the parking garage and Galleria shops and dining amenities."Limited games tables will open on July 30, and all entertainment at both locations will remain closed until the province gives the go-ahead.What COVID-19 precautions will be in place?Masks and physical distancing will be enforced inside both establishments, along with contact tracing.Transparent plastic partitions will be in place around the casinos to help implement physical distancing in addition to health screening tools like temperature kiosks.Staff will receive COVID-19 health and safety training, and cleaning and disinfection rates of "high-touch surfaces" like bathrooms will be increased. Casino Niagara features two floors of gaming with 1,500 slot machines, 45 gaming tables, weekly live Niagara entertainment and three different venues for dining and drinks.A luxury Ontario casino resort, the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort is fun for non-gamers and gamers alike. In addition to over 100 gaming tables and over 3,000 slot machines, Niagara Fallsview Casino is one of Canada's premier destinations for live performances, gaming, a luxury hotel and spa, shopping and an array of dining options. conjuror88Philadelphia, PA705 contributionsGreat Covid Protocol, Front staff, machines so-soJust checked the newly opened Fallsview casino now run By Mohegan Sun. The main lobby was very well set up with ushers telling you where to go, answering all queries, and the best of all, POLITE. You are sent to the counter for Covid questioning and asked phone number for contact tracing. Area where you get the players card is still small with a short lineup. Machines are well spaced, placed with plastic barriers, with each machine reminding patrons to keep hands clean all the time- another great touch for Covid protocol. Got a jackpot on the one dollar machine. Easier to win in the morning, it tightened and the machine calibration a bit off with the returns, namely in some combination I should have gotten more in the old casino, this one was oddly off in payback. Washroom clean, not all sinks in use but good enough. Food options limited to Buffet( a misnomer since you really order from the menu and they let you in after. Only thing was some people are not wearing their masks properly once inside with is being below heir nose and some completely off. The sofa area in the central bar in the middle is ok, but with Covid they should really remove it for now. Drink servers polite and ready to for customers. The new card system is also a bit tight. Was Platinum before and earning period was 6 months. The new Momentum card gives you till September 2021, but they just opened which means you have to get the points in 2 months ? Were they expecting a quick payback? It should be 6 months from opening. Will probably go back again but not on a long weekend....few jackpots todays and the returns were low. This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.Cash out only, replay not workingWe had to wait in long lines due to a technical error. It wasn’t fun. The staff suggested coming back another time to play credits but for travelers that isn’t always possible. If we knew about the issue we wouldn’t have played. This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.venisonkingOntario, Canada197 contributionsWe went the first day it opened and there was a line to get in. It wasn't a huge line, but too long for us. There is another line to get a casino card or to upgrade your current card. The security guard said we will have to upgrade the card and we should get in line since it wasn't long. Anyway, we decided we didn't want to and left. The next day we went back to check the line, still long. I was waiting on my husband and this lady asked me if I wanted to go into the casino. I told her "yes, but I don't want to wait in that line". Anyway, she told me I could stand in the line to get my new card and could then go right in; which we did...took 5mins. They didn't issue us new cards, just took our names down. It wasn't too busy due to covid and we didn't really notice social distancing or masks being worn...some people did. We stayed for maybe 30mins, had a drink, played a machine, won a little bit of money and then left. This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.SylvieLongueuil, Canada5 contributionsOnly hotel closed in Niagara Falls at this timeWhat a shame that we were not able to use our gift card during our vacation...even the shopping facilities are closed, we were extremely desapointed...☹This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.raachmyersWhite Haven, PA275 contributionsWe stayed here for our first trip to Niagara Falls this past April and had a great experience. We had a little trouble finding the correct parking garage/hotel entrance but other than that it was convenient. We had friendly check in service, a clean room and overall great stay with a great view. We actually needed to check in a night early and the casino was accommodating. The price was decent and included a winery tour and tasting package as well as dining credit. Once inside, we were stopped by security and asked to show our passports or ID cards. It was Christmas, and if I remember correctly the casino lunch buffet was about $50 per person. I think the price was a little high, and it has gone up a bit because of the holiday. Noon buffet from 11:30 to 14:00. It was very busy, but the environment was very good. The food was fresh and hot. We were very impressed with the desserts. The service staff were very enthusiastic. You can sit by the window and watch the falls. It's a great place to see the falls. Whether you like western food or Asian food, you can find it here. It was also delicious, more luxurious and diverse than the casino buffet in Sydney. This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.Bob BChattanooga, TN131 contributionsA nice clean and large casino. planty of slots and other board games.Don't win slots much but this trip was a winner. returned a second night and won with teh same machine again. We paly and visit the casinos for entertainment so we set a dollar amount and that is the fun for the evening. Sometimes it lasts 20 minutes and others hours. Fallsview allowed up several hours of play and extra dollars in our pocket when we left.Shuttles between some hotels and casinos. All bets are in Canidian dollars so visit the cashiers to get the right money.
