About us About us The future looks bright Following on from a £3.5m programme of ward refurbishments in 2019, we are now in the process of our £35m Hospital development. This will be the most significant infrastructure project in the charity’s 163 year history. The development will bring: • Six brand new operating theatres • Upgrade of our Critical Care Unit to meet Intensive Care Society requirements for level 3 care • Brand new endoscopy room • Day case suite and efficient patient centred admissions lounge • JAG compliant environment • New imaging department • Additional outpatient consulting rooms • Expanded space for our urgent care centre, Casualty First • A new entrance, waiting room and cafe We’re building theatres that impress The theatres and their fit-out are our biggest investment. They will be new, modern and include: • Four large integrated operating rooms on the first floor • All four rooms will have UCV (Laminar flow) • State of the art theatre lighting that works with UCV canopies and eliminates shadow • Ability to live stream from the operating room to the operating suite conference room • Brand new operating tables • Cutting edge robotic equipment that will open up a whole new world of potential procedures We have already begun this investment with the recent upgrade of our microscopes and ophthalmic equipment and are continuing this upgrade project with the other surgical specialties and anaesthetics.
