1612541.2008Guide 8/7/08 11:50 AM Page 17 GENERAL INFORMATION ROSEN HOTEL HELPS HR FLORIDA GO GREEN Rosen Shingle Creek has removed about 1,000 un-needed fluorescent light bulbs throughout the hotel and they shut down the air conditioning in back-of-the-house areas when doors are open for unloading. Tinting was added to all windows to cut heat from the sun and air conditioning costs. While many hotels focus their green efforts on lighting, recycling can’t be ignored. Staff at Rosen Shingle Creek recycles oils, newspapers and cardboard. They provide their oil from kitchen fryers to a company which refines the oil and turns it into biodiesel fuel. A 55-gallon drum of biodiesel per week likely will be enough to run its landscaping equipment. The hotel uses low-flow toilets in all the guest rooms. They even have water-efficient laundry machines. Sensor outdoor-lighting and programmable thermostats help with their energy- saving initiatives. For HR Florida 2008, the Rosen Shingle Creek has ordered recycle-specific receptacles for the convention area. The HR Florida Conference Committee is very grateful for the presence and support of our conference sponsors and exhibitors. Without them, this 30th Anniversary HR Florida Conference and Expo simply would not have been possible. We have published this directory not only to recognize the contributions of our sponsors and exhibitors, but also to provide attendees with contact information and a description of the products and services they provide. Conference attendees are encouraged to visit the booth of each sponsor and exhibitor, and to retain this directory for future reference in everyday business needs. The sponsors noted in bold in this directory have contributed funds and in-kind services toward the planning of this event. Their contributions help to pay for activities and events, such as refreshment breaks, meals and entertainment.
