District 112’s concern for children doesn’t begin in kindergarten and end at graduation. Our teachers are on hand to work with children
who need additional developmental and education help from birth through age 21. The program designed to meet the developmental
needs of our youngest learners is Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE).
Early Intervention Birth through 3 years
Provided within the child’s natural environments, these “Routines-Based Interventions” are based on the
child’s daily life and are guided by your family values and priorities. Families are coached in strategies to help

The early childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early
Childhood Screening is a FREE and simple check of how your child is growing and developing.
Between the ages of 3 and 4, screening can detect possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before
they start school. Parents accompany their child through the approximate hour-long process. After the screening activities, the
screener shares information on a child’s growth, development, and learning.
Join us at screening as soon as your child turns 3! Discover more about their development and learning, such as:

Height and weight • Vision and hearing • Immunization status

Early childhood developmental screening helps a school district identify children who may benefit from district and community resources
available to help in their development. Early childhood developmental screening includes a vision screening that helps detect potential eye
problems but is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye exam.

StormHawks Full-Day Care and Preschool Education 3-5 years
The preschool day offers students opportunities for math, science, literacy, and social skills development as
well as opportunities for music, movement, and active play. Breakfast and daily snack are included. School
lunch available for purchase. For three and four day schedules, you pick the days--same days each week. Care
option available on some school release days and during the summer months (separate registration required).
Traditional programming is offered at Chanhassen Elementary, Victoria Elementary, and the Family Learning
Center. A Dual Language Spanish/English program is offered at La Academia. Dual Language classroom staff
are proficient in Spanish and students receive instruction in Spanish approximately 50% of their day.

English Language Learners Family Literacy
English as a learned language helps adult students develop The family literacy program provides parent/s and their children
speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar skills to access to the exciting world of learning and opportunities. Our
communicate effectively in English within their workplace, goal is to build literacy skills across generations and help
community and families. Pre literacy to Advanced levels are families acquire the tools they need to grow and thrive. Families
available. with children 8 weeks – 5 who are interested in learning English
are encouraged to apply. Parent/s attend with their children four
days per week in the afternoon. Adults will have time to focus
on personal educational needs as well as parenting education

Learn how to glide across the snow in basic lessons for all ages and ability levels! Our instructors provide

an interactive ski lesson covering equipment and basic drills for balance, form, and agility. Once trained,
master your skills by striding the groomed trails of Lake Minnewashta Regional Park. Participants under

Embrace adventure and the snow by snowshoeing across the winter snowscape! No need to worry about

Indoor Youth Archery Series Ages 8-15
Just because there's snow doesn't mean you can't shoot a bow! Indoor archery is a fun way for
kids to be active during our cold Minnesota winters. Participants use compound bows to grow
their archery skills through fun games and experiential learning. Students learn the basics of
range safety and proper stance, aim, and release techniques from our trained instructors. All

Winter Day Camp Non School Days! Ages 8-13
If your child misses being outdoors in the winter, this camp is their outdoor escape! Participants will
enjoy one full day of great winter recreation activities like snowshoeing, kicksledding, shelter building
& group games in this unique winter day camp. Instructors with the Carver County Parks Department
will teach outdoor activities covering how- to safety and equipment terminology. This camp is based
primarily outdoors and campers should come prepared with a peanut free lunch, water bottle, warm
layered clothing & boots. Led by Carver County Parks.

Flag Football Grades K-8
Join the fun! Whether you’re a pro football player or learning the game for the first time Chaska
Chanhassen Football Association (CCFA) will get you in the game! We’ll work on fundamentals and
drill work before playing a game each day. Teams will be formed by grade level with the possibility of
playing with one grade level (up or down) depending on numbers. Each player will get a jersey to keep.
Volunteer coaches are needed, please note during registration if you’re interested in coaching! This is a
partnership between CCFA, Chaska Parks & Recreation and ECCS Community Ed. Registration deadline
is April 4th in order to form teams and try to honor one friend request! May 23rd will be a rain makeup
date if we need it, please mark your calendars so you can join us if you’re around. The 2-8pm is the
window of time the games will be played. You will be notified by your coach of the exact game times
once the teams are formed.

Beyond Pinch Pots Ages 5-12
Every kid loves making pinch pots! But let’s go beyond that and learn super cool techniques to transform
pinch pots into puppy pals, silly rabbits, playful penguins and much more. Not only will the kids learn
the basics of working with clay but they will create amazing clay creations that are way cooler than a

Edible Gardening for Kids Ages 5+
We want our kids to eat their veggies. We also want them to learn responsibility. We want them to have
fun and enjoy life while they are young. This class puts the responsibility of caring for a mini garden in
the hands of our kids. For the child who does not want to eat her/his veggies or maybe loves to play in
the dirt, your child will go home with a small garden container to care for this summer. Out of her/his
work, tomatoes, carrots, green beans and other yummy FRESH veggies will grow that will taste so much
better than store vegetables. Best of all they will be introduced to the basics of gardening, the importance
of patience and practicality of how to water and “feed” their plants. Class fee includes all supplies: one
12x17x9 inch container box, one bag of soil, one watering worm, seeds and plants. Students ages 11 and
under must be accompanied by a parent. Parent does not need to register. Led by Heather Novak.

This Young Rembrandts workshop is full of possibilities! Join us as we learn about a new medium and
explore art history by studying different artists and their work. Each day we will create one large drawing
in pastel chalks. We will create wonderful artwork while being inspired by Edvard Munch’s The Scream,
Pablo Picasso’s Woman in Hat, Vincent Van Gogh’s Chair, Wassily Kandinsky’s Bavarian Market Square
and Claude Monet’s Regatta at Argenteuil. The daily results will be truly frame-able! No experience

Child and Babysitting Safety Ages 11-15 most up-to-date information.
Participants will learn the responsibilities of being a prepared, safe, responsible and professional
babysitter. Topics include supervision, behavior guidance, proper feeding and diapering techniques,
personal safety, basic first aid, medical emergencies, and fire safety. Dolls, bottles, and diaper supplies
will be provided at class for hands-on participation. This class is developed by the American Safety
and Health Institute and approved by the American Pediatrics Association. Class participants receive
a manual and certification card. Participants should bring a peanut free snack and beverage to class.
**In the event that gatherings are not permitted due to the Corona Virus, this class will be conducted
with Zoom technology. Please note that ZOOM is not available on district issued student devices. Led by
