WORTHINGTON DISTRICT 518 Independent School District 518 Families, The 2020-2021 school year was filled with uncertainty and surprises. The challenges that presented themselves were unique and required a variety of new tools and methods to overcome them. Students and staff of ISD 518 rose to the occasion. Many people across the district deserve to be acknowledged and praised for their successes. The entire District 518 community should be proud, first and foremost, of the students who continued their education through the changes, trials, and adversities of 2020-2021. We are proud of all they have accomplished towards achieving excellence in education and the incredible amount of determination they have shown to reach this point. A very special congratulations to every student in the ISD 518 Class of 2021 for working throughout the year to realize their goal of graduation. Another source of pride is the staff that have been there to aid and guide students every step of the way. It has taken cooperation, resolve, and a lot of hard work to provide students with the best education possible, inspite of COVID-19. Thank you to all ISD 518 staff and volunteers. We appreciate everything you have done to protect the health and safety of our students while focusing on educational progress for each student. Fortunately, in this year where the awareness of physical spacing and social distancing was brought to the forefront, ISD 518 was able to complete a critical construction project at Worthington High School. The second story classroom addition helped to provide the space needed to allow students to attend full-time in-person learning during this past school year. More expansion to support educational excellence and student success in our district is on the way in the form of the three grade, 900 student, Intermediate School. That facility is currently under construction at the Crailsheim site south of Worthington Middle School and next to the Learning Center with a target completion date of summer, 2022. I would like to once again express my pride and gratitude for the students, staff, and community members who made excellence in education possible in the 2020-2021 school year. Without the dedicated work of the entire ISD 518 community, it would not have been possible to continue providing an equitable, successful education to the over 3,000 students in our district. Thank you to all members of our district community. I am proud of what ISD 518 students and staff have accomplished. - John Landgaard Worthington School District 518 Superintendent DISTRICT 518 COMMUNITY EDUCATION 24 WWW.ISD518.NET/ENRICHMENT | 507-376-6105
