Make a Difference HEALTH CARE & COMMUNITY SERVICE Continuing Care Assistant Battlefords Campus Meadow Lake Campus The Continuing Care Assistant program allows you to make a difference in someone’s life everyday. This program is a one-year certificate program. If you enjoy caring for others, the Continuing Care Assistant program might be right for you. You’ll work directly with clients in long-term care, home care, assisted living, and even special needs classrooms. You will help them with mobility, personal care, assisting them to eat their meals and medication monitoring. Your clinical work experiences will give you a taste of different work settings and offer you a strong foundation as a health care support staff. Youth Care Worker Certificate Battlefords Campus North West College is offering the one-year Youth Care Worker Certificate program as it has transfer credit towards social work and justice studies degrees. The Youth Care Worker program will help you develop the HEALTH CARE & COMMUNITY SERVICE skills you need to build healthy relationships with children, youth and families. Stepping Stones to Success Many adults who did not complete a high school program have continued to learn through a variety of experiences encountered in everyday life. The purpose of the GED testing program is to provide an opportunity for these individuals to have their learning evaluated and recognized and used for work or post secondary studies. Although the GED test represents less of a time commitment than a high school diploma, it’s not academically easier. The test is graded on an equivalency scale compared to current high school students. All my family is located in North Battleford so I really didn’t want to have to move. It worked well for me having a program right here in town. I received two scholarships for a total of $3,000. I received the Viterra Sask Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship and the North West College Canada 150 Scholarship. The scholarships really made me feel like all my hard work paid off.
