ten funny, picture books with original illustrators.

Lavieri “Piccole Pesti” is a publishing project for
children and “grown-ups”, a little help to face the
adventures of everyday life regardless of wizards
and witches and of any escape, not just in me-
taphorical terms, but from reality. Irony on the
front line to have fun, learn and be blown away.

Matt Dixon’s works instantly evoke a sense
of appreciation. Then, gradually, the slight im-
pression of naivety they convey gives way to the
observation enforced by some details. After a
while, it becomes evident that, basically, what
Dixon seems to be staging is a classic: the post-
apocalyptic scenario where human presence is
merely limited to scattered items, deserted cities
and the anthropomorphic aspect of the robots
                                 that wander through them …
But there is a further step that finally emerges:
we are the distinct solitudes of Dixon’s robots
(as we realize) and the apocalypse has already
                                 come.

Mario Pennacchio (Potenza, 1973), after having
worked for several multinational companies, began
working with words. He became a translator “for love”,
and together with his wife, founded STEP Language Services, an agency working alongside prestigious international brands. His
passion for nursery rhymes led him to explore the world of children’s literature. In 2013, he published Il Quaderno delle Fila-
strocche (The Nursery Rhyme Notebook, Kellerman).

Richolly Rosazza was born in Ancash, Peru, in 1981. The object of his artistic research has always been the world of
childhood, in particular the ability of the creative mind, typical of children, which manages to transform everything into play. In
2012 he illustrated the Città del sole calendar, and in 2013 some of his plates were selected for the Illustrators’ Exhibition at
the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Among his publications are the series La famiglia coniglietti (The Bunny Family, Risfoglia edi-
tions) and Legami (Links, Kite, 2019), all with texts by Nadia Al Omari.

   radossalmente restava in piedi.
La furia del vento lo incalzava sempre di più, tanto da doversi accoccolare.
Notò che la porta, tutta sgangherata, era scardinata su un lato. Aveva una
fenditura abbastanza larga. Non avendo scelta si infilò. «Buongiorno, come va?», le chiese una vecchia anatra, giunta in quell’i-

Tram!
29 cm, hardcover (With Folded pgs). , 48 pages, .
Age: 5-9 years.

Wheels slide on tracks, a long arm hooks it to
the sky: so the cable car zips through the streets.
It hangs downtown, high-end shops, decorated
streets, but it also roams around the park, in the
market area, in the most colourful squares.
But what do cable cars dream?

The cable car goes through the city. It is its he-
art, its soul, its movement. Its passing by never go-
es unnoticed, with its rowdy and gentle clank on the
streets. It welcomes and carries the most different
people, weaving a close network of relations.

A book to shed a new light on the ur-
ban geography and people, creating an
unusual and surprising point of view,
observing the city through and around
        a cable car.

of the Forgotten Things
24x24 cm, hardcover, 28 pages. Age: 4-99 years.

In the middle of the desert of time lies
Sha, the city of forgotten things.
It is ruled by an old blackbird that takes

Words are evoked; fears and ghosts

The Flying Boat

Once upon a time there was an old man
tired of remembering. And a flying boat
                                                      tired of sailing
Once upon a time there was the sea tired
                                                      of dominating.
Once upon a time there was a child tired
                                                      of playing.
Once there was a moment when the old

                                                      again as one.

The Flying Boat is a fairy-tale in which “on-
ce upon a time” become a sort of refrain re-
vealing the magic of the story.

           An original story,
       imbued with great poetry
        and sweet melancholy.

Age: 6-99 years.

                                         So the day came
                                         in which he set off,
                                         looked at the space around,
looked for a ray in the sky ...

This book wants to bring order to the countless legends re-
lated to it. This is the result of years of study engrossed in ar-
chaeological finds, historical documents and myths that seem
to be more and more plausible nowadays.

with the most talkative ones. Now it is so
easy to communicate with our animals! But,
maybe, the most important thing is having

                                              curiosity.

The piper of Hamelin is not really a fairy tale or
a bedtime story. It rather lies within the category
of legends because, if you think of it, fantastic
elements are few and have a secondary role in
the plot. Perhaps it is this detail that discloses
that irresistible charm capable of attracting
                                              generations of readers and scholars.
Discovering its versions is a fascinating journey:
first in the events that generated the legend, then in the motives that made it one of the most
engaging stories ever, able to address essential topics and sometimes, as in this version of
Andrea Scoppetta, surprisingly modern.

    Age: 3-5 year.

Adults are really strange. They get confused!
When I was a kid I was examining a stone in
an inquisitive manner. Here comes my mom
    crying, “it’s POO! it’s POO “
Well, I know what poo is! That was only
a stone: round, hard, unappetising, with no
SMELL and it certainly didn’t look like anything
I so proudly dump in my diaper!

The authors finally give voice to the kids’s unspo-
ken perplexity in front of the thousand inconsisten-
cies of their parents and grown-ups in the difficult
phase of addressing early childhood behaviour.
