CENTRALIA HIGH SCHOOL BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR Welcome Back Tigers! Thank you for your patience as we develop our all-virtual start to the 2020-21 school year. We are committed to providing a robust, meaningful distance learning program for our students. We have been working on the all distance learning model and our staff members are dedicated to providing exceptional instruction and support. We learned many lessons from the school closure in the spring and are using that information to create an improved, rigorous, instructional model. Please click HERE to find Centralia High School’s all online distance learning daily schedule which was sent to students and families on Friday August 14th. The official first day of school for Centralia High School is Wednesday September 2, 2020. However, we will be conducting Chromebook checkouts for all CHS students starting Tuesday September 1st. Centralia High School will schedule a checkout time for each student on either Tuesday September 1st (9th & 12th graders) or Wednesday September 2nd (10th & 11th graders) This will be a required activity for all CHS students. During this check out time, students will receive their school issued Chromebook, fill out corresponding paperwork for the Chromebook checkout, have their picture taken, receive a link to the student handbook, information how to access the student’s class schedule, and receive their school ID card. Please stay tuned for more information regarding these orientation days as we will be providing additional information as the time approaches. CHS Modernization Project Our CHS modernization project, which has completely remodeled our entire school, is complete! Thank you to our 10th, 11th and 12th graders who have been so patient during this process. All areas of the school will be ready for full use as soon as we return to in person learning. We are very excited to see our new school used as it was designed! We will send updated traffic flow information as we approach the start of face-to-face learning. In the meantime, if you are accessing the CHS main office, please use the entrance at Borst and Eshom and if you are accessing the Performing Arts Center or Gilmore Commons, please use the south entrance to access our new south area parking area (bus turnaround and loading area). This means students will not be 1
charged for meals this school year. Families will receive an annual income data survey in the first weeks of school via regular U.S. mail and it will also be attached in our regular Student & Family Update communications. We encourage you to complete and return the Income Data Survey, as it helps provide much needed funding for the district. An á la carte menu will continue to be available to students at lunch. Menu prices and selections will be determined by food service. In our commitment to continue to serve wholesome meals we will begin offering a curbside pickup point at the high school for the period of time that school is NOT in session. This service will begin on September 2nd, our first day of school and continue as long as we are engaged in virtual learning.
