Also, be sure to sign your child in when you drop off and out when you pick up so we have accurate attendance at all times. If your child won’t be coming to school or will be coming late, please send us a quick message so we can plan accordingly. Back to School The end of August and beginning of September will bring a lot of changes as we welcome and returning students and say “see you later” to many of our current students. We had one of the biggest graduating classes in Radiant’s history this year with 28 students graduating! Please make sure to take a moment to say “see you later” to old friends and “welcome” to new friends!
Radiant Montessori Newsletter August 2021 Children’s House One Happy summer to all CH3 families! July already brought us hot heat and we entered into the real summer program season. We had some summer themed art works and made watermelon and ice cream cones out of construction paper. We learned some songs about fruit and water, and had a chance to wash with coconut soap. We also had several exciting summer program events such as the RADZOO visit, our riverboat field trip, our monthly ice cream truck visit, and our weekly water and bike day fun. Celebrating Independence Day, we had some lessons about American history briefly and learned about what independence and freedom meant. The children found how great and precious they were and how to conduct themselves respectfully. The whole week was also an artistic celebration for self-conquest of functional, emotional, and intellectual independence which was acquired by self-building and self-conquest through works. Our class focused on practical life lessons and some discussions which were demonstrated with a high level of concentration, developing a sense of order, taking pride in a job well done, increasing independence through care of self and the environment, and developing respect for the community and improving fine motor coordination, among others last month. We will learn about water – specifically lakes and rivers in August. Through scientific research (spraying water and watching how it moves) and listening to stories, we will learn how water moves through Earth’s water cycle in the ocean, land, and atmosphere. We will also learn about the different characteristics of falling rain, snow, and hail. Lastly, happy birthday to Dawson, Leo, Natalie, Sophia, and Brennan last month. We are excited to welcome some new faces in upcoming month. Enjoy the rest of summer and see you in the fall! Mr. CS and Ms. Michelle
Radiant Montessori Newsletter August 2021 Children’s House Two Hello Casa Two Families, Summer is passing by so quickly, especially when it is filled with so many fun activities! In July, we learned about science experiments, transportation, and holidays around the world. We also had a visit from the RAD Zoo and then took a ride on the River Boat down the Mississippi River – both were wonderful and exciting! Apart from all of those fun learning experiences, bike day, water day, and ice cream day on hot summer days boosted our children’s level of happiness and summer adventure. We have some fun topics planned for August including theater, five senses, under the sea, workout and travel around the world. The Raptor Center will also be visiting school on August 19th. For the themes, we will have great fun looking more closely at teaching drama, selling pretend tickets and popcorn, watching a drama/movie, and exploring our senses, sea animals, a variety of workouts and techniques for physical fitness, and much more through hands-on activities. Our summer happenings will end with an extra boost of outdoor fun through small and large activities! August is not only the end of summer but also a month which reminds us a lot of our memories and experiences of the school year together. On behalf of CH2, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents, families, and students who are moving up to the next grade level for their continuous support throughout the year. We wish our students the very best for a bright future – you all will be missed! On the flip side, we are excited to welcome new friends into our classroom and our primary goal will be to help provide a smooth transition for you and your child to Children’s House 2. Happy August! Love, Ms. Bawani, Ms. Allie, and Ms. Regina
Radiant Montessori Newsletter August 2021 Children’s House Three So much July fun for Casa Three! We started this month with a bang – celebrating the stars and stripes. Red, white, and blue art work was on the schedule along with lots of time outside. In the second week of July, the students got engaged with cooking. Ms. Lily, Ms. Morgan, and the kids made cookies and ice cream together. They learned about kitchen tools and really enjoyed their snacks. We also had a visit from some very cool reptiles from the RAD Zoo. The following week we dove into science. The students made slime and watched the explosion of Mentos and diet coke. Then, we learned about different types of transportation. We read stories and discussed the meaning of the word transportation and students helped determine if the big machines in our books were for transportation or something else. We colored and punched out different types of transportation in class and went on a riverboat ride down the Mississippi! We even got to see some barges and a moveable bridge! We ended the month of July with holiday fun and squeezed all of the holidays into one week – so much fun! August themes are going to be excellent – theater fun, the five senses, under the sea, and work out week! Can’t wait for all the fun! Ms. Sarah, Ms. Lily, and Ms. Morgan
Radiant Montessori Newsletter August 2021 Toddler Room Happy August Toddler Families! I can't believe summer is already coming to an end; time flies when you're having fun! This month Teddy will be joining our classroom from the Transition Room next door and we are so excited to learn with him! He will also be celebrating his 2nd birthday this month – happy birthday Teddy! In August, we will focus on the topic of back to school! We will learn about the shape of a triangle, letter V, number 3, and the color yellow. School means so much more than just school supplies and school buses and I am so excited to dive into that with your toddlers. Parents, this month I challenge you to talk to your toddler about what they think school means. This conversation could take place in the car, at the dinner table, or even before bed. If you have any fun answers, please feel free to share! As always, never hesitate to reach out to me via email at alyssa@radiant-montessori.com or via Procare. Ms. Alyssa and Ms. Olivia
Radiant Montessori Newsletter August 2021 Transition Room Happy August parents! Summer seems to be just flying by! How can it be August already?! The Transition students have been soaking up as much sun as we can! Our favorite things are to be outside and our ultimate favorite is Water Day. We love splishing and splashing in all the water bins and running through the sprinkler. This month, the children have been very interested in different animals. We have been exploring animal matching games as well as playing animal sounds and then the children need to guess what animal is making each sound. We usually get stuck on the goat versus sheep sound because they can sound very similar. We have also been working very hard on our fine motor activities. We have been doing a straw drop where children are supposed to pick up straws and fit them into a toothbrush holder. Such a simple lesson but the toddlers love it! We have also had fun doing our themed weeks: Fourth of July, beach fun, pirates and mermaids, camping, and sports! We made some delicious flag snacks during our Fourth of July week and banana frosting pops during our beach fun week. In August, our weekly themes include silly monsters, dinosaurs, outer space, and science. We have fun plans to make monster cookies, hatch dino eggs in an experiment, and participate in a moon rock throw! As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email me at abby@radiant-montessori.com. Thank you so much and we hope you have a wonderful rest of your day! Miss Abby, Miss Sofie, Miss Mirina, Miss Brittagh
Radiant Montessori Newsletter August 2021 Infant Room Welcome to August! This summer is flying by! We continued to enjoy the beautiful summer days by sitting outside or getting out for walks, having bubble parties, enjoying water days when the weather permitted, and loving the RADZOO visit where we got to see live reptiles and amphibians! Our theme for August is the beach! We have a couple beach-themed projects planned and a beachy sensory activity. Along with our beach activity, we will have an emphasis on sign language and learn signs such as, 'all done,’ ‘more,’ 'please,’ and 'milk.’ Last month, we welcomed two new babies, Henry and Aspen. We will be welcoming two more little ones this month, Asher and Amelia. Both families are new to Radiant and we are excited to welcome them to our community. Welcome, Asher and Amelia! Our room has gone from 6 babies to 10 this summer and although an adjustment, we look forward to having new friends in our classroom Birthdays and Milestones: • Connor, Audrey, and Brody are pulling themselves up! • Audrey has also started crawling! • Leo and Connor turn 1 year old! Happy birthday!! As always, please feel free to reach out to us via Procare or email me directly at husna@radiant-montessori.com. Thank you, Ms. Husna, Ms. Shyla, & Ms. Grace
