H ello Friends! WLC continues to cultivate and promote artistic expression as we enter our 24th season. Through the presentation of professional musicians on campus as part of our Guest Artist Series, we celebrate the arts, which we view as a treasured gift from God with the power to transform lives. Our goal in arts programming at the Center for Arts and Performance is to offer a diverse range of arts experiences for the purposes of engaging our campus community, as well as our surrounding community of neighbors. An important part of our mission is to support and sustain Wisconsin Lutheran College’s commitment to quality, excellence, and preparing students for lives of Christian leadership. We continue to pursue this goal by offering master class opportunities for our students in conjunction with our Guest Artist Series. This season, we welcome Jason Lyle Black as part of the Piano Celebrations Series. He will offer a master class for college and high school students studying piano. In the spring semester, Alliance Brass will also conduct a master class for instrumental brass students. The efforts of our students are on display throughout the year as they study their craft and develop their skills and talents through our academic programs in Art, Music, and Theatre. Each year, Music students and faculty offer choral and instrumental performances and recitals, Theatre Department mainstage performances can be seen in the Raabe Theatre, and art exhibits are presented in the Schlueter Art Gallery. Much of the work you will experience here at the Center for Arts and Performance results from the dedication of our faculty and students to artistic expression and creative initiative. None of this would be possible, however, without you, our patrons. You are the reason we are here as we strive to enhance understanding and appreciation of our world through the arts. You may be unaware that ticket sales alone do not cover the cost of presenting nationally and internationally renowned guest artists at the Center for Arts and Performance. I am thankful for the generous giving of our friends, neighbors, and donors who have attended our programs for many years and choose to give above and beyond the ticket price to support the arts. Sincerely, Loni Boyd General Manager of Fine Arts Programming and Operations wlc.edu/arts Event Information Hotline 414.443.8764 3

A udioB ody E lectronic C ircus A rts Friday, February 21 • 7:30 p.m. This thrilling show features an explosive mix of circus arts, relentless comedy, award- winning technology, full-body contortion, juggling, spectacular LED lighting effects, and upbeat music! AudioBody’s multifaceted training and more than 24 years of experience in the performing arts has brought them all over the United States and abroad. Brothers Matthew and Jason Tardy are the original masterminds behind the AudioBody show. In 2004, after having already toured the country for more than half their lifetimes as a physical comedy team, they decided to create a new show that would be the synthesis of music, comedy, and technology. A few years later they emerged with an arsenal of audio-visual inventions, including wearable electronic jumpsuits that play music as they move, LED light tubes that are manipulated at high speeds in the dark, a 15-foot-wide electronic drum-set, fluorescent light ropes that form the shapes of sound waves, and countless other unique performance gadgets. MUSICAL: SHE LOVES ME Thursday 11/7/19 7:30 p.m. Friday 11/8/19 7:30 p.m. By Joe Masteroff, Jerry Bock, & Sheldon Harnick Saturday 11/9/19 7:30 p.m. Based on a play by Miklos Laszlo Sunday 11/10/19 2:30 p.m. Directed by Simon Provan Thursday 11/14/19 7:30 p.m. She Loves Me is an “old-school” charming, romantic Friday 11/15/19 7:30 p.m. musical with wonderful characters and an amazing, Saturday 11/16/19 7:30 p.m. amusing chorus. Set in 1930s Europe (Budapest, Hungary), the action centers around those who work in an elegant parfumerie (perfume shop). Two of the young clerks seek love and companionship through Lonely Hearts letters - only to find that they’ve already “met their match!” John Chapman in the Daily News wrote of the original Broadway show that it is “so charming, so deft, so light and right that it makes all the other music-shows in the big Broadway shops look like clodhoppers!” The 1998 film You’ve Got Mail starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan is a modern adaptation of the same story. THE GLASS MENAGERIE Friday 2/7/20 7:30 p.m. Saturday 2/8/20 7:30 p.m. By Tennessee Williams Sunday 2/9/20 2:30 p.m. Directed by Simon Provan Thursday 2/13/20 7:30 p.m. This popular American classic follows Tom’s memory Friday 2/14/20 7:30 p.m. back to his days in a St. Louis tenement apartment Saturday 2/15/20 7:30 p.m. with his domineering mother, Amanda; shy sister, Laura; and her one-time gentleman caller, Jim. Williams’ first play, which launched his remarkable career, has been read by millions and produced by perhaps thousands - including numerous film and television/video versions. That it continues to resonate with audiences is a testament to its greatness and place of honor in American Theatre. THINGS WILD & FREE Friday 3/27/20 7:30 p.m. Saturday 3/28/20 7:30 p.m. Based on Aldo Leopold’s A Sand County Almanac Sunday 3/29/20 2:30 p.m. Directed by Jay Sierszyn Thursday 4/2/20 7:30 p.m. This is an original production devised (written and Friday 4/3/20 7:30 p.m. developed) by our company of student actors and Saturday 4/4/20 7:30 p.m. theatre artists based on Aldo Leopold’s writings of nature, conservation, and life in the Wisconsin countryside. The book A Sand County Almanac serves as WLC’s Campus Read for the 2019-2020 academic year, and the topics and issues it addresses will be actively engaged in classrooms as well as on the Raabe Theatre stage! wlc.edu/arts Event Information Hotline 414.443.8764 21
