2021 - 2022 School Year Calendar CELEBRATE CULTURE, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION WITH YOUR STUDENTS!
CELEBRATE CULTURE, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION WITH YOUR STUDENTS! The U.S. population is becoming more and more diverse, and the need to embrace the many cultures in our classrooms is more important than ever. When a student’s learning environment respects their history, values, beliefs, and traditions, students and their families are better positioned to thrive in school. This calendar was designed in response to First Book member feedback that revealed the challenges many educators face in finding time or resources to regularly celebrate culture, diversity & inclusion with their students. Each month, you’ll find a suggested day to celebrate that includes recommended resources from First Book and suggestions for a class, group, or family focused activity. You will also see month long observances, religious observances, and added dates of cultural, historical, or inclusive significance that have been included for 2021-2022. Being culturally competent—having the ability to successfully teach students who come from cultures other than one’s own—is critical to the success of our increasingly diverse student population and society. Be sure to visit www.fbmarketplace.org/free-resources for more resources to help you celebrate culture, diversity & inclusion all year long with your students! © 2021 First Book.
