Many Claims Made and Claims Made & Reported insurance policies have reporting requirements in them that outline the policy holder’s obligations in sharing information about possible future claims. The reporting requirements in the policy can vary from insurance company to insurance company and can require the policy holder to report occurrences, events, circumstances or even critical facts that may give rise to a claim in addition to “claims” or “suits”. It is very important that you understand the reporting requirements contained in your policy so that you do not inadvertently violate them and possibly eliminate coverage for a potential claim. Some of the terms used in the reporting requirements are clearly defined while others are not defined. You should review your reporting requirements with your insurance broker and/or your insurance company to make certain there is no misunderstanding. Page 11 of 18 April 9, 2019
