Furthermore, Riese & M üller assumes no liability for the road safety of the loaded trailer. The rider must check to ensure that the loaded trailer meets road safety requirements prior to riding. Among other things, the following points must be checked: 1. Is the load secured so that it cannot shift or tilt? The load must remain secured in all riding conditions or in the event of an accident. 2. Is the centre of gravity low enough? The rider must be able to securely hold the Cargo-Bike bike and the trailer could topple over around bends if the centre of gravity is too high. 3. Is the wind-exposed area set up so that gusts of wind do not pose a problem? 4. Is the route suitable for the trailer? Tight spaces, dangerous areas (e.g. due to car traffic) or insufficient ground conditions (road adhesion, high sills / kerb edges, potholes, etc.) must be avoided when planning your route. 5. Is the topography suitable? Avoid steep sections of road. Depending on the load, the cargo bike's maximum climbing ability may be limited or the brakes may overheat. The rider must adapt their riding style to the load and the traffic situation. Heavy loads and unbraked trailers require longer braking distances; the load and trailer affect the bike's cornering and slalom behaviour, which is why riders are required to adapt their riding speed.
