Welcome to the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s
annual largest one-day food drive.
Canstruction Chicago celebrates the 13th annual can art exhibition
benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Twenty participating
teams from local Chicago architecture, engineering, construction, and
related firms participate to give back.
Canstruction, Inc. is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1992 and
headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Events are hosted around the world to
help raise awareness of hunger issues through the creation of structures
made entirely out of canned food. This unique competition allows teams
to use their design skills to create incredible structures using canned
goods all while fighting hunger in Chicago. All canned goods used in
the structures are donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
This event will bring in 150,000 pounds of shelf stable food for the Food
Depository’s network of 700 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters and
programs throughout Cook County. Canstruction Chicago is the Food
Depository’s largest one-day food drive that helps to put food on the
table for the 812,000 men, women and children they serve each year.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, believes a
healthy community starts with food. We are at the center of a network
of more than 700 partner organizations and programs – food pantries,
soup kitchens, shelters, mobile distributions and other partners – working
to bring food, dignity and hope to our neighbors across Chicago and
Cook County. The Food Depository addresses the root causes of hunger
with job training, advocacy and other innovative solutions. We are a
proud member of Feeding America – the national network of food banks.
By working to help those most in need go from hungry to hopeful, we

Description Easter Island is a
Chilean island in the southeastern
Pacific Ocean. It is most famous
for its nearly 1,000 monumental
statues, called moai, created by
the early Rapa Nui people. A
community with a caste system
produced the massive moai statues
that some believe represented
ancestors. These statues would be
rolled and pulled by man power
and rope across the island to their
final resting spot. It would take
about 5-6 men to complete one
in a year. Cool Beans is taking an
old historic statue – giving it some
bling and letting the world know

hometown hero with “Figures of

among that exhibit, reminisces on
Abloh’s architectural education
counterpoised by his contributions
to fashion, all while making a
tangible charitable impact on the
GCFD.
