CLEANAIRE - Premiere Heat Recovery Ventilator
The CLEANAIRE Heat Recovery Ventilator controls Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) by continuously replacing stale, humid air with
fresh, pre-warmed outdoor air. Each model has two fans (one supply and one exhaust) and an ‘Air to Air’ Heat Exchange Core
that recovers the heat from the outgoing exhaust air stream and warms the incoming outdoor air.

Toshiba Air-to-Air Heat Exchangers
Toshiba Air-to-Air Heat Exchangers use exhaust air to pre-condition the incoming air, thus reducing the cooling or heat-
ing load and the overall size for the required air conditioning system, rather than just discharging air conditioned air out

Why our Duct Heaters should be your first choice: • Our manufacturer has 75 years experience building heaters and element banks. • Our units are assembled & tested by registered electricians not process workers, with materials designed to enhance maximum performance whilst ensuring safety standards are never compromised. • Our Duct Heaters have never had an insurance claim due to product malfunction. Open Coil Elements The Duct Heater open coil element delivers almost instant & evenly distributed heat, minimal restriction to air flow enables very large capacity to space ratios to be easily achieved. Damp terminal failures common with Magnesium Oxide insulation never occur. Our elements do not readily suffer earth faults due to dampness and condensation (even if saturated). Porcelain Element Supports The ‘heart’ of the Heater is the steatite ceramic support bushing insulators (patented), which have great impact strength and high dielectric properties. Heavy gauge nichrome open coil elements are firmly supported with no tension, and are able to move freely in the ceramic insulators. Support Tension, which is a common cause of failure in open wound element coils, is not a factor with our open coil elements. The Steatite Ceramic Insulator bushings are suitable for continuous operation at 800°C. Normal mechanical vibration and air stream buffeting are not a factor. Low Watts Density + Heavy Gauge Resistance Wire = LONG LIFE Watts density is limited to comply with temperature limitations as in AS/NZS 3102:2002. Even lower watts densities are offered for convection or other low air flow applications. The resistance element wires used in the heater for HVAC cannot corrode. Special wire types are available where corrosion may be a factor (i.e. some food process heat applications). Oversized element terminal bolts are standard, and elements are prewired to ‘user friendly’ terminals within the terminal compartment. Duct Heater Frame Heater frames are designed / sized for the exact application, are self supporting, and normally made of fabricated galvanised steel sheet, which complies with the durability clauses of NZBC B2 even as fresh air tempering heaters in corrosive seaside installations. Frames of 304, or 316 Stainless Steel are optional. Frames and mountings are designed to client specification. (Specials on request and priced individually). The terminal compartment is sized to dissipate by convection, radiation, or forced air, any heat generated by mutual induction of components within. No element heat is transmitted to the terminal compartment. Special terminal compartments for process ovens and for indoor or outdoor locations are also available (with IP ratings specified). Controls Units can be supplied ‘to bare terminals only’. This means that the Heater includes safety controls only, all factory prewired to DIN terminals within the terminal compartment. Control packages to any specification are also offered, with mechanical contactors or SSR control, mechanical or electronic thermostats, fused control circuits, integral circuit breakers, etc. Virtually any specification can be met, and usually supplied fully prewired, up to and including main ON/OFF switch plus remote control terminals. Overheat & Safety Protection
Because jammed contactors cause fires, every heating element is fitted with a dedicated fusible link as ‘back up
protection of last resort’.
One manual reset over-temperature thermostat cannot protect a large capacity multistage duct heater,
6 or 8 may be required for effective protection.
The effects of wind pressures on buildings or convection updrafts in vertical duct installations can cause fires
many metres from a duct heater that has a ‘jammed contactor’ (i.e. B remote overheat protection may be
necessary in a vertical duct).
Each Duct Heater installation requires individual safety consideration, as a safety system failure can result
in costly litigation.
Instructions, Wiring Diagram, Label & Serial Numbers
Every Heater is individually serial numbered & supplied with a detailed installation instruction folder, (including
operating instructions) relating to that serial number, and marked with permanent user friendly labels, both
engraved and etched.
A detailed serial numbered wiring diagram is provided for each individual Heater.
Standards Compliance
Heaters comply with, and exceed, the requirements of AS/NZS 3102:2002.
Every proprietary item installed in any Element Bank is compliance certified by the specialist manufacturer
i.e. B diaphragm type differential air switch, thermostats, fusible links, fan ‘run-on’ thermostat, manual reset
over-temperature thermostats, insulators, and materials.
Insulation materials (fibreglass and 1000°C ceramic fibre insulation blanket, as appropriate), may make Element
Banks more expensive than our competitors who use closed cell plastic foam insulation with a max working
temperature of 100°C, but our internal insulation will not disintegrate (or evaporate into the air stream), if ever
called upon to protect adjoining combustibles from excessive heat in a fault condition.
