Due Dates Due Date Research Study II Note 2.12.2018 Students need to submit: - Follow the stated Sunday To Supervisor criteria * 1 (one) copy of research report (All chapters), and * 1 (one) article related to student’s research
Due Dates Due Date Research Study II Note 2.12.2018 To the Faculty - Follow the stated Sunday * 1 (one) copy to the faculty criteria academic office * Submission form of Research Study II report – must be approved and signed by supervisor(s) (Please note that the Faculty will not accept the Research Study II report without this completed form)
IMPORTANT Please abide by the following criteria for your research report: 1. Ring binding 2. Front cover: • Research title with less than 15 words (based on UTM title guideline) • Program of study (i.e: MPPA/ MPPB/ MPPC etc.) 3. Do Not Type any identification like your name and supervisor (s) name anywhere in your report (for blind evaluation purpose) 4. Blue front cover 5. Please include all relevant materials related to your research (eg: module, instrument, courseware (cd))
Due Dates Due Date Research Study II Note 6.12.2018 Faculty distributes Research Thursday Study II report to Examiner for evaluation 20.12.2018 Supervisor of Research Study SV = 70 % Thursday II submits mark of their Examiner = 30% students to the Faculty Examiner submits mark of the Student have to make evaluated Research Study II correction and report to the Faculty submit to the Faculty returns the evaluated Research Study II report and comments

Regulations and Guidelines Percentage of assessment from supervisor and examiner - For RS I : 100% from supervisor - For RS II: 70 + 30
Regulations and Guidelines Compulsory to follow prescribed format in the thesis manual
Attendance : regular meetings with supervisor is a must. Attendance and commitment is part of assessment. Plagiarism – students can be penalized for plagiarism.
Submission of RSII report to the faculty must be within the assigned date. Faculty have the right to reject late submission
Words of advice • Regular meetings/communication with supervisor • Plan well • Don’t procrastinate • Research skills - literature search and research methodology + statistics • Integrity & ethics • Resources – PSZ : journals, databases. Make full use of UTM facilities. • RS topics must align with your programme • Knowing your strength and weaknesses

• The article must be from your Research Study II, not from your assignment or other resources • What should be put in the article? Ø Title ü Not too long. ü The title must not be far from your RS2 title. ü Less than 15 words. Do not use any acronyms in the topic. Ø Abstract ü Maximum of 300 words ü Short introduction ü Issue/problem at hand ü Purpose/aim of the work ü Design, methodology or the approach used ü Findings ü Practical implications/inferences Ø Keywords ü List 3-5 important words of your research. ü A keyword is a key to information. Who developed them? ü State the validity and the credibility of the instrument ü What are the procedures of your research? How did you ensure that you have taken into consideration the ethical aspects (for example sample consent, and others) ü Introducing the data analysis … Justification on how the data analysis is suitable in the context of your research … are the assumptions fulfilled, like the normality, and others? Ø Research Findings/ Results ü Must be explained in a simple and a compact form. ü Straight forward
Ø Discussion ü Discuss the research findings based on the research questions. ü Give your opinion. Why are the findings obtained as they are? ü Need to have support and justification from the literature review. Avoid from just writing … “the literature review is aligned with the research findings … ü Or “the research findings supports the research of …” ü Creativity is needed in writing the discussion. Ø Conclusion ü Prepare a simple conclusion about the ü conducted research and the contribution of the research to knowledge. ü Research implication. ü Further research suggestions.
Ø References ü See APA (The American Psychological Association) Ø Download the template in http://educ.utm.my/penyelidikaninovasi/muatturun/ Ø Check turn-it-in. Make sure that the similarity index < 20% Ø The length of the article is usually less than 20 pages. Ø Submit the article to your supervisor. Don’t submit it with the final draft of your RSII report at the academic office. Ø You may edit the article based on comments given by you supervisor and your RSII examiner. Ø Submit the final manuscript in .doc format through e-project system
