Welcome and Contents On behalf of Bd&e Events, and all my colleagues, I am delighted to welcome you to our flagship annual conference and exhibition, Bridges 2019. In addition to the excellent exhibition of specialist companies dedicated to the bridge industry, ahead of you awaits a day packed with stimulating presentations and networking opportunities. Whether you own, design, build or manage bridges, the high-quality presentations in this year’s varied programme will provide great learning points. This, coupled with ample opportunities to meet fellow professionals, should lead to some interesting discussions on the latest technologies and recent bridge-related developments both in the UK and abroad. Now in its 27th year, Bridges 2019 owes much of its success to its ongoing partnership with key organisations such as the UK Bridges Board, the Bridge Owners Forum, ADEPT and IHE, as well as our specialist in-house highways Contents and transportation publications. These strong ties have enabled the event to establish itself as the UK’s only annual conference and exhibition solely dedicated to the bridge engineering sector.
