March 2021 Volume 99 BIZZYBODIES We Believe Caleb previously worked as our site cleaner for Midland, Innaloo and East Perth. Caleb stepped in to relieve a client who was unable to attend his cleaning job at a local gym for almost a month. While this kept the employer happy and the client’s job open, it also gave Caleb an opportunity to try something new. From his first gym shift they saw what we see in Caleb and offered him permanent shifts alternating with the other client. When we first met Caleb, his goal was to pursue work in Open Employment. After starting and ending a role with an employer which did not go so well, BIZLINK Midland wanted Caleb to have a wonderful experience. We offered him our cleaner job which he did for over a year. This year’s flashmob dance had a very special meaning with the Coronavirus pandemic that has changed life for many people. TSEP Stepping Out of Comfort Zone Reaps Rewards Raymond Parker was recently given a great opportunity to permanently work on the cash register at Woolworths Port Coogee. Raymond has been employed at the store since November 2017 and had worked on grocery presentation. Support Coordinator, Rosemarie Horsley, approached Store Manager, Sean Looker, 18 months ago suggesting Raymond would like to train on the cash register. Woolworths allocated half an hour of cash register/customer service training at the beginning of each shift. Dream Job 5 Years Loyal Service Erika has achieved 5 years’ service at Dome. Erika started working at the Armadale store and in July 2020 transferred to Midland Dome where she currently loves working. Interviewed and trained by Agi initially and then Sandi, both supportive Managers, Erika is eternally thankful for the opportunity and time her fellow team has spent with her. Reaching 5 years’ service has seen Erika accomplish many goals, however, none greater than being part of the team at the magnificent Dome. Erika enjoys going to work and said, “Do yourself a favour, sit in their restaurant and they will bring you the best food and drinks.” BIZLINK Midland and Dome have worked together to assist Erika settle in and for this we are grateful. The open communication and relationship we have built has been fantastic. Thankyou Dome for supporting BIZLINK and our clients, especially through the COVID impacts, the loyalty you have in Erika is endless. Hayden had thought he would be stuck in takeaway food forever. However, he completed Librarian qualifications and BIZLINK Midland worked with him to connect to new employers and a new job. Hayden is now employed as a casual Library Assistant. The City of Bayswater are proactive employers and work with BIZLINK to increase their diversity and equal opportunity employment. Hayden has done the hard work to get him to where he needed to be. BIZLINK Midland are delighted to see Hayden excel and follow his dream and we will continue to support him in this role. The plan documents how our staff, clients and visitors will be kept safe during the COVID- 19 pandemic. The certificate is displayed at each office. We use the SafeWA COVID-19 Contact Register. The QR Code poster is at the office entrance and at reception.
