WELCOME MESSAGE SSO NATIONAL DAY CONCERT When music speaks, stars will shine. Welcome to the 2019 edition and eighth instalment of Young Talents Project, Mediacorp’s THIS IS HOME, TRULY annual celebration of star musicians. The search for the next Young Talents Project winner reaches its conclusion at this evening’s Grand Finals when ten young musicians each 10 AUGUST 2019 perform a classical music piece of their choice. OUR JUDGES OUR JUDGES Ryan Lewis is a pianist, examiner and music Singaporean conductor Joshua Tan’s rise to educator from the UK. OUR JUDGES Ms Jeong has, spent much of her life in the realm of classical music, singing, studying, teaching and performing and has given numerous recitals and appeared in various operas, garnering an appreciative following. Ms Jeong is a gifted coloratura soprano. Born and raised in Taegu in South Korea, she obtained a full scholarship to the University of Jeong Ae Ree Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria in Soprano, the mid-1990s. Artistic Director, CEO and Founder of She founded New Opera Singapore in 2011 New Opera Singapore with the aim of entertaining and educating anyone interested in the operatic arts. As Artistic Director and CEO of NOS, Ms Jeong’s mission is to showcase local singers and expose audiences to a wide spectrum of opera experiences. Her husband Chan Wei Shing is a Singaporean cellist who plays with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and is also the music director of NOS. Ms Jeong made her stage director debut in 2017 with Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, and in August this year, she will be Stage Director for the upcoming Midsummer’s Night Dream by B.
