Student-Athlete of the Month STUDENT-ATHLETE of the MONTH AWARD Student-Athlete of the Month is presented on a monthly basis to two student-athletes who display excellence in the areas of academics, athletics and community service. HARRY AGGANIS STUDENT- ATHLETE OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP The recipients of the Harry Agganis Student-Athlete of the Year Scholarship are selected from the 16 winners of the MIAA Student- Athlete of the Month award. These student-athletes are recognized for best exemplify the highest achievement in the areas of Harry Agganis Student-Athlete of the Year academics, athletics and community service. The legacy of Harry Agganis as a scholar, an athlete and a servant to his community is now enshrined in this annual scholarship recognition of two outstanding MIAA student- athletes. STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAC) The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is comprised of students who participated in the New England Student Advisory Committee (SAC) Student Leadership Conference (NESLC) and/or the MIAA Student Ambassador program. They attend seasonal meetings with the Educational Athletics Committee and help facilitate student and captains leadership workshops throughout the school year. They participate in various Association activities and provide continual feedback from the perspective of students on how to improve the Educational Athletic offerings of the MIAA. 7
Wellness Awards Four MIAA Wellness Awards are presented annually to a student, Wellness Coordinator, or member of the MIAA Partners in Prevention in recognition of their efforts to help students make healthy life choices and promote the health and well-being of students within their school and/or throughout the state. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Appreciation of Service The mission of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee The MIAA and MSAA extend sincere gratitude and is to foster diversity among member schools, athletic appreciation for the commitment of our students from both administrators, coaches and student-athletes by promoting Associations who have committed to joining the Armed inclusiveness, awareness, and acceptance. The focus is to Forces of the United States of America after their celebrate all differences by creating associations that are graduation. During this inaugural year, over 60 member welcoming and engaging for all. schools and 170 students were recognized by school leadership in spring 2021. We look forward to seeing this number grow in the coming years. Sportsmanship The MIAA fosters an environment of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion where the ideals of good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and integrity should encompass all interscholastic athletics in our communities. Our athletic fields should be the classroom where student-athletes, who reflect “fair play” in every aspect and area of life, are developed. 9
