Principal’s Welcome I am very pleased to introduce the Ballsbridge College Prospectus for 2021/2022. It will, I hope, give a comprehensive description of all the activities of the college and will help you make an informed decision about your future. Our college has changed considerably in recent years in order to meet the challenges that present themselves due to the introduction of new technology in the workplace and changed economic conditions. New programmes have been introduced, and our facilities have been upgraded to the highest standards to meet these new demands. We have excellent computer facilities, student support services and extra curricular programmes. The college is very proud of achieving the status of a Green-Campus in 2013, becoming one of only a handful of further and higher education institutes in Ireland to have done so. We have always been recognised for our links with employers. We are continuing this association by ensuring that our students have the skills that are required in the business environment today. The college has developed a very successful Erasmus+ programme which provides students with the opportunity to gain work experience in Amsterdam or Hamburg. Students also have the opportunity to apply for an exciting entrepreneurship internship programme in Barcelona, Spain. Ballsbridge College is open and welcoming and each year we have an energetic and enthusiastic group of students. If you are a school leaver, an adult returning to education or an international student in Ireland, there is a course in the college to suit you. There are opportunities here for everyone and I invite you to look at our courses and choose the one that suits your needs. All our courses are certified by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) and all successful students will achieve full national certification. Join the many students who have attended the college in the past and who have used the qualifications obtained in Ballsbridge College to begin a new phase in their chosen career path. The college is a small friendly place in a central location. We are well served by bus, DART, and LUAS connections. I am delighted to welcome you to any of our courses that begin in September 2021. Ruth O’ Doherty Principal

Louise Nagle: Event Management graduate 2020 Current Position: undergraduate, BSc. Event Management, TUD I had an amazing year in Ballsbridge College. The staff and teachers are brilliant! They supported and encouraged each student to reach their full potential and helped me achieve results I didn’t think were possible. I gained valuable experience, met new people and had fun, all while studying and learning. The Level 5 Event Management course helped me to find a passion in something that I could pursue as a career. I studied Event Production and Marketing and learned the important role the media play in this industry! The teachers helped greatly by sharing resources and their experiences from their own careers. I gained the basic knowledge to further my studies in Event Management and I am now studying for a Level 8 degree, in Event Management in TU Dublin. In conclusion, I would say, Ballsbridge College has an amazing community spirit, both within the college and within the local area. Darragh Connolly: TEFL and Business Management graduate 2020 Current Position: undergraduate, Business Management, IADT (advanced entry) When I began my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and Advanced Business course in September 2019, my main objective was to gain the Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) qualification and become an English teacher. I was planning to travel the world, using the qualification to earn a living while I did. The course content is very interesting and diverse. I studied such subjects as TEFL, Communications, Marketing Management, Business Law and Sales Presentations. Throughout my time in Ballsbridge College I was given good career guidance and the College organised guest speakers to come in and speak with us about our options. One of the guest speakers was from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Dun Laoghaire who advised me on the best way to apply for the Honours Bachelor Degree in Business Management. I wanted to use Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) to go into the 4th year of this course and after doing very well in my final assignments and projects in Ballsbridge, I was delighted to be accepted into 4th year of the course. I will be starting that course this September and I’m really looking forward to continuing my education in IADT. Finally, as a mature student, I was a little bit nervous when I started in Ballsbridge College last year, but I quickly settled in as the culture and environment in the college are excellent. The teachers are all very friendly and professional at the same time, and because of the smaller size of the college it’s easy to get to know people in the corridors and classrooms alike. During the year I was very lucky to be accepted onto the Erasmus program in Amsterdam and thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Overall, I had a hugely positive year in Ballsbridge College and would recommend it to anyone considering continuing their education. 15
Elliot Haran: Business Studies graduate, 2019 Current Position: undergraduate, B. Law, UCD “I thoroughly enjoyed my year in Ballsbridge College which was largely down to the atmosphere within the college. Each teacher was so helpful in making me feel comfortable as well as working so hard to help me with my academic studies. They did so much to develop and encourage my skills in a variety of areas some of which I had never come across before. I was lucky enough to develop many new friendships that will certainly outlast my year of study in Ballsbridge. To top it all off, after a year of hard work, I was accepted into UCD to study Law which was my first choice. I was over the moon. I know I would not have achieved this if it wasn’t for all the help given to me by my various teachers. I couldn’t thank my teachers enough who consistently helped me and kept me positive towards attaining my goal”. Breda Conophy: Advanced Certificate in Business graduate 2019 Current Position: Undergraduate, BA HRM, NCI "The Advanced Business course at Ballsbridge College is both practical and theory based. The broad range of topics covered helped me to decide what to specialise in. I learnt a lot of good, relevant information which has assisted me in achieving my ultimate goal of getting into BA Hons Human Resource Management at The National College of Ireland. The tutors are extremely knowledgeable, supportive and helpful. I would highly recommend Ballsbridge College as a Post Leaving Cert College that embraces a mixture of cultures and provides the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve your goals". Caoimhe Walsh: Advanced Event Management graduate 2017 Current Position: BSc. Event Management, TU Dublin (advanced entry) After taking a year out of college I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with myself. Living close by, a friend mentioned Ballsbridge College as an option and told me to look into it. I came across the Event Management course while flicking through the brochure and in my interview with the Principal, he pointed out to me that I was actually eligible for the advanced Event Management course due to my past work experience. Ballsbridge College is the perfect college to start in. I was definitely not the most academic student in school, so I was unsure as to how I would get on in college. The lecturers are extremely supportive and very helpful when you are struggling with any assignments or modules. There is a constant support group either from the students in your class or from the teachers and porters in the college. I am now an Event Management student in The School of Hospitality and Management in TU Dublin. I went directly into year 2 from Ballsbridge College through the advanced entry route for PLC students coming from Level 6 courses. I would definitely recommend everyone to apply to Ballsbridge College for their first step in third level education. The mixture of continuous assessment and exams has me more than prepared to continue my studies in TU Dublin. 16
