SECTION 1 Anthogenol® product information. Anthogenol® is a naturally derived supplement (MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs) that is not only a powerful antioxidant that helps protect against free radical damage, but it may also help protect capillary walls. Anthogenol® may help the body to preserve collagen protein, supporting skin elasticity and may help reduce the physical signs of ageing. Summary of Anthogenol® benefits: • Helps support the synthesis of collagen in the body and may help protect against the breakdown of skin collagen, a process that produces the visible signs of ageing. • Has antioxidant action, helping protect the body from the damaging effects of free radicals and oxidation. • Helps maintain healthy circulatory function including peripheral circulation to the hands and feet. • May help relieve the symptoms of mild varicose veins. • Provides nutritional support for the health of the heart and cardiovascular system. SECTION 2 MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs ingredients. A. Professor Masquelier, the inventor. Professor Masquelier was the first scientist to isolate OPCs from nature and develop highly specific OPCs based extracts that are today sold under the trademark MASQUELIER’s®. In addition, his greatest achievement does not lie with isolating OPCs, but more so with the highly specific OPCs-extracts he was able to produce on an industrial scale, applying them in medicinal practice and proving their nutritional relevance through continuous scientific exploration. This is what Professor Masquelier worked on for almost half a century. B. MASQUELIER’s® manufacturing. The manufacturing of MASQUELIER’s® ingredients is based on a total system, from vine (or forest) to extract, using state-of-the-art control and monitoring methods (CPA). This creates MASQUELIER’s® unique ingredient which is comprised of a highly specific selection of OPCs, with the scientific proven benefits it is reknowned for. C. MASQUELIER’s® Complex Phytonutrient Authentication (CPA) System. MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs is produced consistently under the Complex Phytonutrient Authentication (CPA) system. MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs is isolated (extracted) from Vitis Vinifera grape seeds. MASQUELIER’s® monitors ingredients from the vine, its growing area, the conditions of cultivation, the harvest and the treatment of seeds following harvest, all of which have a profound impact on the resulting extract which are constantly monitored within a CPA system. This traceability is merely CPA’s foundation. DNA identification of the harvested 3
seeds, as well as the meticulous application of the highly precise extraction method for which Professor Masquelier himself laid the foundations, are essential steps in creating MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs. Identification methods include HPLC, rigorous safety assessments and, as a final culminating step, a composition monitoring method involving a state-of-the-art technique called Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Principle Component Analysis. This forms the Complex Phytonutrient Authentication system which is in place for MASQUELIER’s® ingredients. By using this system we can consistently maintain the scientific links with the researched compounds originally developed by Professor Masquelier. The totality of the CPA system forms the ultimate scientific foundation for our MASQUELIER’s® ingredients’ product-specific benefits. D. MASQUELIER’s® Seal of Authenticity. The MASQUELIER’s® Seal of Authenticity provides a consumer recognizable guarantee of our ingredient’s batch to batch, scientifically proven efficacy under the CPA System. The original ingredients developed by Professor Masquelier, which provide well documented benefits, are found in products carrying the MASQUELIER’s® Seal of Authenticity showing professor Masquelier’s picture, signature and the MASQUELIER’s® trademark. E. MASQUELIER’s® 70 year track record. MASQUELIER’s® ingredients are backed by more than 70 years of ongoing scientific research. Famously, Professor Masquelier first isolated OPCs and published his thesis on the subject in 1948. Following the first isolation of OPCs from nature in 1947, the French nutritional scientist professor Jack Masquelier and his products were awarded 10 patents (Exp.) in relation to the manufacture of the authentic OPCs ingredients contained in this food supplement and their health benefits. 4
SECTION 3 B2B sales guide. This guide has been put together to assist sales teams when at expos or discussing Anthogenol® with retailers or professionals. We have put this together as a series of points for you to remember, so that you can then use them conversationally or in presentations. IMPORTANT NOTE: All information written below is intended for your memory and conversations only. Its wording may be slightly different or broader than used in official written communications. Do not under any circumstances use this in any written communication. The contents of this booklet need to be verified with local regulations pertaining to consumer information for dietary supplements before used in promotional materials. Anthogenol® is scientifically proven in, and recommended for: Anti-aging support. • People seeking to combat the internal aging process, which is largely dependent on the condition of the vascular and antioxidant defence system. • Athletes who want to recover from training faster and protect themselves against excess oxidative stress caused by sports activities. Skin health and appearance. • People seeking a meaningful solution to address skin aging from the inside out. Anthogenol® helps reduce the appearance of premature ageing of the skin due to free radical damage and cross-linking, including fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and loss of skin firmness. Circulation and blood vessels. • People with cardiovascular or blood vessel circulation problems. The active ingredients in Anthogenol® support the function of endothelial cells (cells that line blood vessel walls) and protect them from oxidative stress. Anthogenol®’s active ingredients protect LDL cholesterol from oxidative stress while it is being removed from our bloodstream. They also protect collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks of blood vessels flexibility and strength. Eye health and vision. • People with a (family) history of circulatory problems in eyes (reducing eye sight, retinopathy). • People with a profession involving long hours in front of a computer or have difficulty adapting their vision to different light environments (night vision). Leg health. • People with a (family) history of circulatory problems in the legs (varicose veins, heavy legs). • People with a standing profession (shop attendants, flights attendants, etc.). 5
SECTION 4 B2B questions and answers. A. Is there a difference between MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs and other products that write “OPC” on their label? OPCs (plural) are complex phytonutrients that nature produces in many different types and variations. They take the form of 29 different molecules. However, not all 29 OPCs are present in every plant, and some plants have more of one specific OPCs-molecule then others. For example, not all 29 different OPCs-molecules are found in Vitis Vinifera grape seeds. And even where the same OPCs-molecules are found in different grape seeds, they might not be present in the same amounts. This could be because they are grown in different areas, or are different varieties. Thus, while two different plants may produce OPCs-molecule 21 and 22 (out of the 29), the amount of each OPCs-molecule may differ between the seeds of the two varieties. Within this context, it is essential that the ratio between the different OPCs molecules found in MASQUELIER’s Original OPCs is monitored and remains consistent, because it is this precise total composition (and the ratio between the individual constituents/molecules) that produces the benefits. Unfortunately, analytical methods that can keep all the different types of OPCs molecules apart when measuring a specific extract are not commercially available or feasible. Most of the analyses performed today that lead to OPC-percentage or milligrams claims on most labels, are in fact very general tests that are unspecific to this natural variety of OPCs. These “mislabeled OPC- supplements” reinforce the false impression that all OPCs are alike, as if OPCs would be a single synthetic molecule like vitamin C for example. A comparison based on the declaration of milligrams or percentages of OPC(s) on a food supplement is therefore rather meaningless. It is a little like comparing two cars on how they look, rather than on their engines or performance. The only meaningful comparison for such complex phytonutrients like OPCs is a comparison based on the efficacy of the total composition and dosage, substantiated by actual scientific research. B. Why is Professor Masquelier’s OPCs considered the best? The complex phytonutrient MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs is isolated from Vitis Vinifera seeds. Although, generically speaking, it is a grape seed extract, we must ourselves avoid defining MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs as a “grape seed extract”. The term “grape seed extract” is too generic, since there are hundreds of “no-to-low quality” grape seed extracts on the market which have little to no OPC content beyond tannins. As Professor Masquelier explained, “molecules containing more than 5 flavanol-units are no longer considered OPCs. These larger molecules are in fact tannins, or polymeric proanthocyanidins, which are ill-absorbed by the body.” Tannins show up as equal in the OPCs-unspecific analytical tests referred to earlier. Using such analyses gives a “free pass” for ignorant or malevolent sellers of grape seed extracts to declare tannins as OPCs on their labels. Unfortunately, some products on the market today consist almost totally of 6
worthless tannins, yet declare high percentages of OPCs on their labels. MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs on the other hand, contains zero tannins. MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs has significant USPs at its disposal (scientific track record, unique composition, from the inventor, etc). These USPs are impossible for our competition to match. Many so called “OPC” products try to mask their lack of product-specific scientific research by claiming (high) percentages of OPCs and/or by presenting ORAC values in their marketing material or on their labels. In doing so, they succeed in confusing consumers into believing ORAC values have biological meaning. MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs “Competing” extracts • Unique personal backing from its inventor • Test-tube ORAC values (with no biological with a unique brand. relevance). • Decades of satisfied use(rs). • A history of 70 years and long safety record. • A unique composition providing a specific • High dose capsules with unspecified selection of OPCs consistently verified by extracts labeled/ presented as OPC based CPA. on OPCs-unspecific analytical methods. • Scientific proof of effect with 27 clinical • No, or extremely limited product specific trials, dozens of scientific articles and science. counting. 7
C. How do you distinguish between real OPCs and imitation OPC? Supplements containing plant extracts are too complex for human senses to compare. And, just as there are differences in the quality of ingredients and their blends in foods and drink, dietary supplements containing extracts from plants also vary in quality. The fact that a supplement contains a particular extract does not automatically mean that it will deliver the health benefit that is often attributed to that extract. Only unbiased, placebo controlled clinical trials can prove the benefit(s) of highly specific ingredients, sourced from a specific plant, at a specific time, in a specific way. Meaningful criteria The first criteria you can use to compare a supplement is whether the specific extract was used in the scientific studies that support the health claims on its label and its bioavailability. The second criteria is whether or not systems are in place to monitor and control the composition and quality of the extract in each batch that is produced, just like monitoring systems across the food and drink industry. Once these two criteria have been checked, the third and ultimate criteria which you can use to compare a supplement is to check that it is a long standing, safe and successful product, extensively used by people around the world. MASQUELIER’s® ticks all these boxes. Original certainty 1st MASQUELIER’s® gives you the certainty of containing original the ingredients which are founded on decades of clinical and scientific research by Jack Masquelier. This research is ongoing and is continued by I.N.C. to this day. MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs’ microvascular health benefits have been documented in 27 human clinical trials and dozens of scientific and laboratory studies. 2nd MASQUELIER’s® gives you the certainty of the original recipe, which exactly follows the overall blend and composition formulated by Jack Masquelier. This certainty is backed-up by the highest levels of ISO-certified testing and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Principal Component Analysis. Collectively this system is called Complex Phytonutrient Authentication (CPA). 3rd MASQUELIER’s® gives you the certainty that its ingredients have been safely used by hundreds of thousands of long-term users who consider MASQUELIER’s® ingredients to be the cornerstone of their health regimen. Every batch of MASQUELIER’s® that leaves the factory is guaranteed to tick all three of these certification boxes, thereby earning the MASQUELIER’s® Seal of Authenticity. Complex Phytonutrient Authentication (CPA). Complex Phytonutrient Authentication is an all-encompassing system aimed at maintaining a scientifically validated connection with the original composition of the ingredients developed by professor Masquelier. It consists of: 1 Detailed and rigorous traceability from growing area to extract. 2 DNA identification of the harvested materials. 3 Meticulous application of the precise extraction methods. 4 Compound specific HPLC identification methods. 8
5 Pesticide, heavy metal and microbiological safety testing. 6 Monitoring of the total molecular composition using NMR and PCA. These methods combine to ensure that the decades of worldwide safe and beneficial use of the original ingredients and their scientifically proven benefits, will apply to every batch of MASQUELIER’s® ingredients produced. The MASQUELIER’s® Seal of Authenticity is proof that a product meets all authenticity requirements, so you can be sure it offers the benefits it is renowned for. A Taking the capsules with a meal will not have an effect on the efficacy of a MASQUELIER’s® supplement, provided you avoid taking the capsules/tablets with milk, yogurt or other protein drinks or foods such as meat. It is also best to avoid drinking coffee and alcohol at the same time as taking the supplement. Indeed, the use of coffee and alcohol should be reduced when starting with a MASQUELIER’s® supplement. 5 Q Can I take a MASQUELIER’s® supplement with medicines? A There are no known “interactions” between the MASQUELIER’s® ingredients and medications. However, the use of drugs does suggest the treatment of a disease or condition. Such situations require extra attention to nutrition and lifestyle. It is always advisable to inform your doctor or therapist of (changing) lifestyle and dietary habits, including the use of a MASQUELIER’s® supplement. 6 Q Can I dissolve a MASQUELIER’s® supplement in water to consume as a drink? A Yes, the MASQUELIER’s® ingredients are soluble in water. We suggest letting the tablet or capsule sit/dissolve in water for 30 minutes, then stirring well. 7 Q Can I take a MASQUELIER’s® supplement with other supplements? A Yes. MASQUELIER’s® ingredients are unaffected when combined with other dietary supplements. However, MASQUELIER’s® ingredients may interfere with the absorption of protein-like substances when taken simultaneously. If that is the case, you are advised not to take these products simultaneously. For example, take the MASQUELIER’s® supplement approximately 30 minutes before either a meal or supplements containing protein. 8 Q Can a MASQUELIER’s® supplement be taken when breast-feeding or pregnant? A Although MASQUELIER’s® ingredients have no known side effects, caution is recommended when adding specific foods to during pregnancy or breast-feeding. As a general precaution, you are therefore advised not to take the supplement during 10
pregnancy or breastfeeding without first gaining the full consent of the medical professional supervising the pregnancy. A medical professional can best assess the situation as well as your overall physical and dietary needs. 9 Q Should I tell my doctor that I am using a MASQUELIER’s® supplement? A If you have a medically diagnosed condition, if you are taking medications, or if you are pregnant, it is best to be on the safe side and inform your doctor or therapist that you are taking a MASQUELIER’s® supplement. Your doctor or therapist can best assess the situation, as well as your overall physical and dietary needs. If you are in good health and have no known medical condition it is not necessary to inform a doctor or therapist, although there is no reason why you shouldn’t. 10 Q How should a MASQUELIER’s® supplement be stored? A MASQUELIER’s® supplements should be stored in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight and out of the reach of young children. 11 Q How long can a MASQUELIER’s® supplement be used for? A For as long as you like. A MASQUELIER’s® supplement is a dietary supplement and therefore part of your daily diet. You can take it for prolonged periods or permanently, and stop whenever you like. Usage depends on diet, lifestyle, age and what feels right. 11
12 Q Are there any side effects that I should take into account when starting with a MASQUELIER’s® supplement? A No. However, the MASQUELIER’s® ingredients stimulate the normal physiological functions of the circulatory system. One of these functions helps get rid of toxic waste which may have accumulated in certain tissues. This is a healthy and beneficial “detoxifying” effect. Sufficient daily amounts of water and/or herbal tea will help a possible detoxification process and prevent unpleasant sensations sometimes associated with detoxing, such as rashes. If you find this unpleasant or inconvenient, you might want to temporarily reduce the daily dosage. 13 Q What can I do to further support my body when starting to take a MASQUELIER’s® supplement? A When you start to take a MASQUELIER’s® supplement it is particularly advisable to drink plenty of fluids (water, herbal and green tea). It is recommended that you drink 1 to 2 liters per day at least during the first 2 weeks, and that you keep coffee and alcoholic intake to a minimum. 14 Q Are there foods that are rich in OPCs can be taken instead of a MASQUELIER’s® supplement? A Although certain foods rich in flavanols (and OPCs) have been individually studied (red wine, dark chocolate, cranberry, etc.), no specific beneficial relationship has been clinically established between a diet containing these “healthy” foods and vascular health. Flavanols (& OPCs) are present mostly in the bark, skin, cuticles and woody parts of plants, so they are often eliminated when we eat fruits and vegetables. It would be impossible to modify the daily diet enough to obtain the same clinically proven nutritional benefits as a MASQUELIER’s® supplement. In addition, the variations in types of fruit, harvest, and storage conditions provide too many variables to be sure that they would have the same clinically proven flavanols as in a MASQUELIER’s® supplement. 12
15 Q Do MASQUELIER’s® supplements or MASQUELIER’s® ingredients contain any lactose, gluten, sugar, yeast, GMOs, preservatives, colorings, or flavoring? A No. 16 Q Are MASQUELIER’s® supplements and MASQUELIER’s® ingredients tested for the presence of heavy metals and pesticides? A Absolutely. Each batch produced is tested for all heavy metals and pesticides, to meet the standards for food safety. 17 Q Are MASQUELIER’s® supplements and the MASQUELIER’s® ingredients natural and suitable for vegetarians and vegans? A Yes, absolutely. The active ingredients in your MASQUELIER’s® supplement are plant based and the other substances used in the tablet are also of plant origin*. *(Please verify this locally). 18 Q Are MASQUELIER’s® supplements suitable for all age groups? A MASQUELIER’s® supplements are certainly beneficial for all age groups. As we age, so do our blood vessels which can often weaken and lose flexibility. It therefore follows that by looking after our veins now and keeping them strong and flexible, we are in fact looking after our whole body as we age. 19 Q Are MASQUELIER’s® supplements suitable for children? A Yes, but we recommend that you reduce the dosage according to body weight; allow a dosage of roughly 1.5 to 3 mg of the MASQUELIER’s® active ingredient per kg of weight. Thus a child of 30 kg can take 1 capsule of 50 mg. It is best to open the capsule and mix the powder with fruit juice. 20 Q Are MASQUELIER’s® supplements suitable for pets? A Yes. Customers often report back to us that their pets respond well to MASQUELIER’s® supplements. When giving a MASQUELIER’s® supplement to a pet, allow a dosage of roughly 1.5 to 3 mg of the MASQUELIER’s® active ingredient per kg of weight. Thus a dog of 20 kg can take 1 capsule of 50 mg. It is best to open the capsule and mix the powder with food. 13
