PERFORM IT!- WEDNESDAY NIGHT
This term we will be saying goodbye to Megan on the Wednesday Night PERFORM
IT! Group. Megan brought her fabulous musicality to the group and we want to thank
her for her time. Megan will still be teaching on her other courses here at Bloomin’
Arts, so you will still get to say a friendly hello.

FRIDAY EXPRESS IT!
From January Helen will be taking a step back as a lead tutor with the Express it!
Group. DON’T PANIC! She will still be a guest tutor this term and next term, teaching
the puppetry design and making on the groups’ project. It’s not goodbye just Au
revoir! Helen will be in roughly every 4 weeks with the group.

NEW STAFF MEMBER FOR JANUARY 2020
With the above changes through November we have been recruiting for new tutors
and we would like to introduce you to our new staff member Rachel Martin! Rachel
will be joining both the Wednesday night Perform It! group and Fridays Express it!
group. For those of you who have attended the Orpheus Centre you will know
Rachel very well! Rachel has been popping up in the zoom sessions throughout her
interview process and has had the opportunity to say hello to everyone. We are
really looking forward to her joining team Bloomin’ Arts and I know you will all make
her feel very welcome.

Autumn 2020 Bloomin' Arts - Bloomin' Arts
Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Martin, and I’m very
excited to be joining the team in the new year. I have
worked in disability arts for the last 10 years, specialising
in drama, physical theatre, singing and musical theatre.
My degree is in Performing Arts, which I think gives me a
pretty good foundation for my current work! I also have a
PGCE in post-16 education and a diploma in Music
                                         Theatre Performance.
I have two little boys at home, so both my work and home
life are pretty busy, and that’s the way I like it! When I do
have any spare time, I love to read, as well as binge on a
                                         good box set!

If you would like to join Rachel we have spaces available
on our Wednesday Evening PERFORM IT! Group.
                                         6.30pm – 8.30pm or join through Zoom Only ( 6.45pm-
7.45pm) Fee for the 10 week term £60.00.

What’s Been Happening at Bloomin’ Arts this term?
Bloomin’ Arts is now officially award winners thank to the Achates Philanthropy Prize
Reimagined 2020! In November we were announced runners up after being
shortlisted to represent the South East of England thanks to our nomination by
Farnham Maltings. Bloomin’ Arts were selected for our cultural response of “Creative
Islands” and how our community responded. In the South East of England short list
category along with ourselves were the likes of Glyndebourne Opera, Norwich and
Norfolk Festival and South East Dance to name a few! We were thrilled to be
runners up, and I want to thank the team here for the tremendous efforts to ensure
we can all be together and creative through what has been such an uncertain time.
This award was the icing on the cake for such a trying year!

What’s been happening at Bloomin’ Arts this term!

Theatre Company News. December 2021

Hello Everybody,

What an interesting year we’ve been having. Despite all the challenges the Theatre
Company have been really busy. We may have been disappointed not to do our
performance with Lingfield School or be a part of the Brighton Fringe Festival but we
put all our energy into learning how to work together on Zoom and make a Film!
Our filmed version of The Tempest is nearly ready…how exciting!
We have researched the play, rewritten Shakespeare, adapted it for filming on
Zoom, found our own costumes, become amazing characters and now Helen is
learning how to edit on Premier Pro.
Incredible fun.,
So what next? We have discussed possible projects and are keen to explore Radio
Drama. This we can research and produce either in the room or on Zoom. Also the
Theatre Company members are hoping to help promote Bloomin’ Arts as an
organisation with everything from social media to presentations.

Sending you all our best wishes.

Christmas Comics with the Friday Express it! group

As a group we have been creating comedic Christmas themed comic strips!

Wednesday -The Create It! group We had a lot of fun at the beginning of the term
turning ourselves into comic book characters.
We are looking to work together as artists to create an T.V style art show next year.
We have started the groundwork by researching and experimenting in a wide variety
of ways. We have looked at aboriginal art and produced some dotty pictures. We
have created a magic story and acted it out via table acting.
We have also drawn, painted and collaged landscapes. We have researched the
nature theme through dance.
