A. KNOWLEDGE AND INTELLECTUAL ABILITY NEEDED TO CARRY OUT
   EXCELLENT RESEARCH
   A1. Knowledge
   i. Academic literacy and numeracy
There is a rapid progression in the evolution of data science analytical methods and
data integrity. Statisticians have evolved from managing and analysing small data sets
to managing, analysing and reporting (as statistical consultants) on mega sized
multidimensional data sets in previously unimaginable short computational time. As a
statistical consultant and faculty member in higher education institutions, I have
educated, advised and guided others in appropriate academic literacy and numerate
       skills.

       Academic Qualifications

   ii. Subject knowledge
Statistics is a unique discipline with relevance in all fields of academic and human
endeavours. Policy decisions and evaluation in all hierarchy of decision making (SDGs
to local development strategies) are informed by properly collected, analysed and
synthesized data from which relevant information can be elicited. Unavailability of up-
to-date information plagues several organizations and institutions in developing
countries. As a statistician, I not only posess the requisite qualifications, but also
computational and analytical skills situated in a broad-based interdisciplinary research
experience which has enabled me significantly impact on local and global research and
information seeking. As a result, I have taught twenty-seven (27) courses in statistics
and served on many international and local academic decision making bodies.

iii. Research methods
Statistical research methods are amenable to very varied contexts. I have demonstrated
this through collaborative research and serving as resource person to scientists from
diverse backgrounds. I have taught statistics on ten (10) postgraduate programmes in
four (4) Departments and three (3) Colleges in the university.

A2. Cognitive abilities
I have the innate ability to perform various mental activities simultaneously as result
of my gender and self-discipline in managing home career, extended family and other

                                                                                        7
relevant activities that require my attention. In this context however, I refer to my
ability for critical thinking and synthesis in matters most closely associated with
        learning and problem solving.
   A3. Creativity
I have demonstrated creative ability to undertake effective theses supervision, secure
fellowships and written proposals that have attracted funding. This has been for
personal research and support for others to secure funding.
   i. Intellectual Insight
My ability for intellectual insight affords me the opportunity to not only think outside
the box when seeking solutions to challenges, but to also undergo self-reflection as a

ii. Persevearance
I started my academic career at age 34, much later than my contemporarries. There is
an 11years gap between my BSc and my MSc degree. This required a great deal of
