In 1998, their founder Arn CHORN-POND returned to Cambodia after being a refugee in the USA. He started CLA to help master artists pass on their skills to young students, in order to keep Cambodia’s endangered cultural heritage alive. As Cambodia developed, a new generation of artists began to emerge. CLA supported them by running scholarships and fellowships, creating jobs, and building new audiences for arts. Now, as CLA enters their third decade, their programmes aim to give artists the resources and opportunities to start telling their stories of contemporary Cambodia — from stages, schools and community spaces, to international forums and audiences across the world. Vietnam Stage Artists Association www.sankhau.com.vn The Vietnam Stage Artists Association (VSAA) is a creative political-social- professional organisation comprised of theatre artists and administrators who work to contribute positively to the cause of developing Vietnamese theatre. It was officially established as an institution in 1957 in Hanoi. It attempts to create positive conditions for theatrical artists to actively create performances of high artistic calibre while at the same time stimulating developments of theatre research and criticism. It often cooperates with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop strong and effective theatre organisations, support experimental projects, and investigate new methods of performance. Yayasan Chow Kit yck.org.my Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) is a non-profit organisation that caters to the needs of children in and around Chow Kit. They run two drop-in centres in Chow Kit and one safe home for children who are in need of temporary guardianship. They operate in partnership with Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat, and a group of strategic partners comprising of foundations, corporate companies as well as NGOs. YCK developed out of Nur Salam and was incorporated on 19 January 2011. Beyond Social Services www.beyond.org.sg Beyond Social Services is a charity dedicated to helping children and youth from less privileged backgrounds break away from the poverty cycle. The museum’s mission is to add value to heritage. Its goal is to promote the arts and crafts, folk performing arts, domestic architecture and lifestyles of India with emphasis on the four Southern states of India. DakshinaChitra is an open-air museum showcasing 18 historical houses. These houses represent architectural styles of different regions of the South. The wonderful living traditions of craft and performance make DakshinaChitra unique, as the museum provides a platform for crafts people and for folk performing artists. The focus of the museum is to provide the public with a glimpse into their heritage and to appreciate their everyday heritage. Dream a Dream dreamadream.org Dream a Dream is a registered, charitable trust empowering children and youth from vulnerable backgrounds to overcome adversity and flourish in the 21st century using a creative life skills approach. They work with 10,000 youth yearly through two innovation labs – After School Life Skills Programme and Career Connect Programme. They work on a strong collaborative approach with local charities, corporates, volunteers, governments, expert consultants and a host of national and international strategic partners. Over the years, Dream a Dream has received recognition for its innovative model and work. It has been recognised by Lego Foundation and Ashoka as a Champion in the space of Re-Imagining Learning in the world. The Music Academy, Madras musicacademymadras.in The Music Academy, Madras is a landmark institution in the history of the fine arts. Run entirely by voluntary effort, it was founded in 1928 as an outcome of the music conference that was held in conjunction with the All India Congress Session in Madras city. It was conceived to set the standard for Carnatic music. In 1929, it began hosting annual conferences on music and started the December Music Festival of Madras. Its series of publications have been of immense use to scholars and the public. In the 1930s, the Academy championed classical dance, provided a forum for discussions and presented dance performances. It is also a venue for Hindustani music and classical dance forms from the rest of India and the world.
