Autumn Moon Festival September 30 - October 1 Reading poetry. The Mid-Autumn Festival is traditionally a time to read moon based poetry. A time to tell stories. The most popular of the moon stories is the tale of the goddess Chang Er. She mistakenly swallows a magic solution of immortality and rose up to inhabit the moon. Her husband Hou Yi is fated to govern the realm of the sun. They only meet when the moon is full. Playing games together. Many of the games played have to do with flights of the soul, spirit possession, or fortune telling. This September 30 and October 1, Lan Su will celebrate the Autumn Moon Festival with a full weekend of events and activities. China, like many cultures, has celebrated the harvest during the autumn full moon since the Shang Dynasty Autumn Moon Events in the garden include: (about 1600–1046 BCE), the first recorded era of China’s long history. 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Story Time 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mooncakes & Tea The Autumn Moon Festival (also know as the Mid-Autumn 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Calligraphy Demonstration 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Folk Art Demonstration Festival 中秋節) is traditionally a time best celebrated with 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Family Craft Activity family.
