WHO WE ARE An Arctic Expedition Vessel A marine conservation and research platform A community of ocean explorers and researchers Bridging science and storytelling through sailing, Barba is more than the sum of its parts. Led by marine biologist and former Navy diver Andreas B. Heide, it is a floating platform for research and exploration that represents a dynamic community of partners, ocean ambassadors and Arctic explorers with a commitment to the protection of our planet's marine ecosystems. OUR PLATFORM Owned by its captain Andreas B. Heide, and named after his childhood dog, S.V. Barba is a 37 ft expedition yacht that has been enhanced and modified for Arctic expeditions. Serving as a self-sufficient, sustainable and non-intrusive research platform, Barba is able to operate under harsh conditions and provides access to the remote waters of the Arctic.
