i Important Circular Notice:- 1. Operators must be specifically encouraged to use dual finger services; provide BFD services to the residents who fail in the first go and offer alternate mechanisms of authentication as iris authentication. operators must also be encouraged to report devices that show frequent authentication failures. Operators who show better success rates may be encouraged and those who repeatedly perform poor may be retrained. 2. All REs are advised to analyze and monitor their authentication success rates for all modalities/devices and for operator performance on regular basis. Old, poorly performing and malfunctioning devices that cause more authentication failures should be weeded out from the system' 3. FAQs on "lmproving Auth Success Rates" available on uidai.gov.in may be referred to for details'
NPCI Mail Hello, Greetings from National Payments Corporation of India!! Hope you are doing good and staying safe in this pandemic situation. I am a product lead for Aadhaar Enabled Payment System[AePS] at National Payments Corporation of India[NPCI]. AePS is a platform which enables the basic banking services through biometric authentication of the Aadhaar holder (predominately fingerprint). In the Q1 only, AePS has clocked 1.2 billion+ Aadhaar authentication transactions. There are 1.4-1.5Mn+ devices in the market which are operated to perform AePS transactions by business correspondents. Currently, most of these devices supports fingerprint authentications only. From the data, it has been derived that 1 out of 5 transactions are getting declined because of “Bio-Metric Mismatch” ultimately leading to hindrance of service delivery. In current situation, where effectiveness of service delivery has become a crucial factor, NPCI & product g overning body has taken a decision to improve approval rate for the Bio-Metric mismatch. We want to explore the ways by which fingerprint mismatch can be reduced to almost half. What all enhancement can be done which will lead to higher success rate? i.e. o whether increasing the size of the pid block will lead to higher success rate? o Whether implementation of minimum minutiae can be verified prior to transactions initiation will lead to rejection of transac tions prior to initiation itself? o MFIQ checks can be implemented? We are working on the same to galvanize banks to deploy such devices where success rates are much higher. In order to take th is further, I would be needing below set of inputs from your side. ➔ Device type & its success rate ➔ What kind of measures have you taken to reduce the fingerprint mismatch? With this we invite you to deliberate over fingerprint mismatch reduction. You may reach out to me at undersigned for further discussion. ➢ 90% of the AEPS devices are with Mantra/Startek/Morpho. ➢ You need high resolution quality image capture for better verification results . ➢ Aratek with A600 Infra Red sensor has high quality image capture capability with best verification results
