Just A Word From The Secretary Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying the more comfortable weather now. Our Club recently did a survey on the car parking at Uley Road Hall at Elizabeth Downs and we asked the Council if they could extend the car park by removing some bollards from the eastern side and extending the car park through the middle of the trees. No trees would need to be removed. At the December 2019 and January 2020 shows we asked members and friends to sign a petition to send to the Council. Thank you to Gareth Dunne, Senior Manager – Customer Care, from the Playford Council for replying to our letter. Gareth Dunne advised the following, “Thank you for your letter and supporting signatures of club members from 19th January 2020. In the past five years the City of Playford has invested significant capital into improving Uley Road Hall and it's external areas. Approximately $86,000 was recently invested in sealing the existing car park and some external lighting, in addition to line marking. We recognise that unfortunately the narrow street does not allow for much additional availability for parking and we are unable to remove bollards to allow unstructured parking around trees.” The letter goes on to suggest that we may be able to use the Spruance Hall with a lot more car parking near the tennis courts, when they have refurbished the hall. Gareth Dunne also wrote “I believe this would meet your growing need and address the issue of your elderly and Vision Impaired Members who require close access.” This letter will be discussed more at our AGM in August with our members. My thoughts are, when tennis matches are on, it will take away car parks, and the hall needs to be as big inside as Uley Road Hall – At this moment Spruance Hall is too small inside and we love the Uley Road Hall as it will fit over 200 people if needed. But every newsletter should have had a flyer in it. I do apologise if I did miss any. The trip is on Wednesday the 8th of July departing from the car park behind the Caltex Service Station at Munno Para Shop- ping Centre at around 8.30am and returning around 4.30pm.See flyer for more details. In our January show we passed the hat around to raise money for the fire appeal and to support Tim Windsor from Palamino Deluxe to replace his band equipment as he lost every thing in the Cuddlee Creek Bush Fire. We raised just over $300 and the Club topped it up to $600. We divided it in half and donated to St Vinnies Bush Fire appeal and to Tim. Thank you for your support. Well onto our show. We were entertained by Tru-Country, and what great music they played. The dance floor was busy all day. Our guest artist Derani Sanders did two forty minute brackets which added to a great days entertainment. Well done guys we all enjoyed the day. Our next show is with a band we have not had before but I have heard a lot about through members who have seen them. We have also got a guest artist we have not seen before but has been a winner in some of the talent quests she entered. Looking forward to another great days entertainment. Keep It Country, Regards, Keith Warren President/Entertainment Officer 4

Although numbers were down we still had good support. Thank you, your support is appreciated. Moving on to the day, we had Highway One. This band has had a couple of people step down and they had to use other musicians to fill in. They were a little loud to start with but soon got the volume right. Our guest artist was Kiara Mercer. This was her first time as a guest artist. Well done. Very brave, I thought, to sing only accompanied by her guitar. I am sure as Kiara gains more experience she will utilise the band. I was going the advertise our April Show but I heard on the radio that shows over 100 people are not allowed for possible 6 months. We will take each month as it comes. So based on that report, our April show has been cancelled. Check with Ian Fisk's Gig Guide . That's the most informative Gig guide we have. So until our next show, when ever that may be ..take care and we will see you soon. Keep It Country Regards, Keith Warren President / Entertainment Officer On a much sadder note, my brother, Barry Warren, sadly passed away on Thursday 19/3/2020 after a short battle with cancer. Barry was a long time member of the club (2004 to 2009) and past club treasurer (2005 to 2009). Rest in Peace Barry. Our thoughts go out to Stephen & Janet and Barry’s oth- er siblings. 6

Just A Word From The Secretary To the members and friends of Playford Country Music Club Inc; What a different year 2020 has become!!! Firstly fires – now COVID-19! Most people would not have seen anything like this in Australia before. No toilet paper available to buy, unless you lived in the country. Even shop owners can't control the availability on the shelves. Sad to say our club show for April has been cancelled and other clubs have done so too. At this stage, this will be decided month to month - depending on the government advice. Mem- berships are due in May. If we can't open in May, membership renewals will be extended to what- ever month the club show is next expected to take place. As Membership numbers have declined over the last few years, we have decided to change the membership number for some members to use some of the vacant numbers. This will reduce the extra paper usage. Over the 28 years Gawler Country Music Club / Playford Country Music Club Inc, has been running, many people have passed on or are unable to get to the club because of ill health. We will discuss your membership numbers with you when you come in to renew your membership. Hope we get to see you soon at the club, we can only but wait, patiently. Keep healthy – Hang in there. From your Secretary, Helen Warren. 8
