Gospel Meditation The Good Shepherd GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER Fourth Sunday of Easter UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. There is a reason for the popularity of this psalm. The image it conveys to us is one of helpless little lambs Jesus is the true and authentic cornerstone and shepherd. Whereas people who believe that they are fashioned and loved into existence by a God who purposely made them, have this incredible unconditional relationship at their source which has tremendous significance. Their allegiance is not to themselves but to their Creator. Life, then, is an adventure in search of this Creator God and a journey of self- discovery that seeks to unite their will to His. There is a cost. We have to give up our life in order to gain our life. As ironic as that sounds, it is true. It is only when we finally figure this out that the true cornerstone of our lives will be properly laid and we can, with God’s help, get about the business of properly constructing a temple that endures. Welcome to the Heart of Peoria Catholic Community 7
Holy Hour for Vocations in St. Joseph Church, April 13. And he said to them: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”. So I can't stop thinking about God's love for us, for our weakness, for our sins, for our darkness. And how the Lord comes to bring life. But God does not want to do this, it is not the same as not being able, God can do everything, but God "does not want to do it" without us. And because God can do everything and wants it: He calls, He says: “follow me”, this call is an extension of God's love for the world. A love of God that is mercy for all his children. We live this grace in a special way in this Easter season. The Risen Jesus always brings us mercy. A mercy that has a beautiful pedagogy: The call to men and women to continue working for the construction of the Kingdom. ¿Entonces, y si Jesús resucitado hoy te llama a ti joven? So, what if the risen Jesus today calls you young? HOW? hear what is calling you? open the ears of the heart. open your life, you will see how Jesus calls you to follow him and give your life to the Construction of the Kingdom. Jesus needs brave men and women, who are encouraged to the Mission and continue to announce the Mercy of God to the whole world. Is today the day where Jesus can be calling you, and you, will you be silent? will you listen to Jesus? I don't know if this is the moment, but I want you to know: When I decided to enter the seminary, my parents opposed it. They did not want a priest son. It was a very hard time for me. I felt alone, although I was not alone. It was a sad 2005 year. I entered the seminary on March 6, 2005, that day the other seminarians went with their parents to the day of admission, (continua en la siguiente página) That same year my brother died, he was 38 years old when he died. For my parents it was very hard. They thought that God was taking away his two male children: I was in the siminary and my brother was dead. My mom was very bad for a while, she had depression. And for me, seeing my mom depressed was destructive. It was a time where I saw my parents change, change their lives, look at God. I saw my parents convert, try to understand God and his projects. Today they live in Argentina, they live trying to understand God but now they are of Faith, they live Faith. God helped us, God was always there. And I am sure that sometime God will allow them to meet their "dead" son, and if they do not see me again, I am far away, heaven will be the meeting place: this is the joy of my priesthood. Heaven. God who looks at my humanity with mercy and calls me to build the Kingdom of God. Today I am far from my land, my family, my customs, my friends, my people. But I am with God, I am in God. Me sentía solo, aunque no estaba solo. Parents need to talk to their children about Jesus, they need someone to tell them about Jesus and his invitation. And God needs families that pray together, live the faith together, walk together, and in that walk teach their children about this love of God. So young, what are you waiting? who are waiting to respond to the infinite love of a God who loves us eternally. As a priest I pray for you and for each of the families here or who are following the transmission for the voice of God, "follow me" will be heard in every home in this Diocese of Peoria. 8 Welcome to the Heart of Peoria Catholic Community
