LIFESTYLE GUIDE Dear Esplanade Residents, April 2020 In the midst of all the chaos in the world, we hope you have found comfort in taking the time to focus on your health, mind, and overall well-being. Let’s find the silver lining in “social distancing” and consider it a spring cleaning effort on behalf of Mother Nature. Earth Day is this month, and science has already proven less pollution in the air due to less flights and traffic. China has seen blue skies again. Venice canals are regaining their clarity. If we just take a moment to see the world through this perspective, I think it can really benefit us all. Just because we are advised to partake in “social distancing,” it doesn’t mean we are completely out of luck. We just have to get a little creative! Grab that book you always said you didn’t have time to sit down and read. Take a virtual museum tour! Did you know many museums offer tours right from your smartphone? The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History hosts online tours. Start learning a new language, go birdwatching in our community for fresh air, cook up a new recipe, download a meditation app, or video chat with loved ones who are at home as well. This is also the prime time to get that “honey-do” list out for everyone in your household to start tackling! There’s no doubt this is also harmful to the small businesses we have all grown to enjoy. This town is full of private and unique businesses that could really use our help when this is all over. Research to see if you can purchase gift cards to your favorite locally owned shops and restaurants online and use them later. You may even be able to call to order and have them mail it to you. Now for the same advice everyone else is giving you. Sing “happy birthday” twice while washing your hands, don’t touch your face, avoid social groups of more than 10, and remain at least 6 feet distance from others. Stay healthy, Esplanade. Have a Happy Easter! Stasia Voorhees Lifestyle Manager svoorhees@popegolf.net 941-448-1654

Looking for something to do with all of those photos in your smart phone? Try this! Photo Clay Pot Craft 1. Paint the clay pot with white acrylic craft paint. Make sure to paint the inside of the clay pot white as well. Paint about the top inch of the inside of the pot. Paint the saucer as well. Let dry. 2. Select 6 family photos, and print them on a sheet of regular com- puter paper. You can use photo editing software to make a photo collage that is 8.5×11″. I do not recommend photo paper, as the paper may be too stiff to adhere to the curved surface of the clay pot. Cut out each individual picture. 3. Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge on the side of the clay pot. Smooth a photo over the Mod Podge and seal with another layer. Repeat with the remaining 5 photos. Trim the photos if needed to make a collage. 4. Optional: Using a contrasting color, paint a name or saying on the top border of the clay pot. Ours reads, “My favorite people call me Grandma.” For more information click to link below https://thecrazycraftlady.com/photo-gift-clay-pot-craft/ Feel free to send your creations to: svoorhees@popegolf.net and be featured on our Palmer Ranch Esplanade Facebook Page!
