Letter from the Chief Executive I am delighted that you are considering an application for the role of Medical Director at North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT). North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) is one of the largest NHS organisations in the South West with a combined workforce of over 12,000 dedicated staff. We are an ambitious organisation and are committed to providing outstanding care for the population of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire and more widely through our specialist tertiary services. We are also a prestigious, internationally recognised teaching and research organisation providing care regionally and nationally. We are now at a pivotal point in our development. Working in close partnership across the local health economy with our partners in Healthier Together (our Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care System) and with academic partners, we are focusing on deepening integration and partnership across region to increase the positive impact we can make to the population we are proud to serve. COVID-19 has put unprecedented strain on the NHS and our colleagues have shown extraordinary skill, dedication, flexibility and compassion in caring for patients throughout. Now is a unique opportunity to be creative in how we work in partnership to deliver exceptional healthcare, excellent specialist services and cutting-edge research. In looking to appoint a Medical Director to join NBT, we will be working with our close partner University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS FT, who will be running a process simultaneously to identify their next Medical Director. This is an example of our deepening partnership, and our recognition that to meet our ambitions at NBT and as a health system, we will need to work closely together, and our two Medical Directors will form a close partnership going forward. This post offers an exciting opportunity to lead on our clinical work and set an inspirational example as a clinical and corporate leader, working with an incredibly engaged and ambitious team. NBT’s new Medical Director will have the ability to articulate a clear sense of direction and vision, engaging with staff across the clinical community, the Trust as a whole and of course the wider system. A qualified consultant and experienced senior clinical leader, this new Medical Director will bring a commitment to the NHS and cross- system working, together with a proven track record of leading service innovation, improved clinical pathways. If you think you have the motivations and qualities to take us forward, I’d love to hear from you. Maria Kane Chief Executive Appointment of Medical Director
