Braille Technology
 Mantis Q40™
Keep braille at your fingertips anytime, anywhere with the Mantis
Q40, a Bluetooth ® keyboard and 40-cell refreshable braille display.
With the Mantis Q40, users no longer need to choose between
a keyboard or a braille device — at the same time a student or
professional is typing on the Mantis, the refreshable braille below the
keyboard is providing a multimodal braille complement to the screen
reader, making it easier to participate in, and succeed at, school
or work. The Mantis can be used as a host or stand-alone device.
Connect to other devices via USB or Bluetooth, or use the Mantis by
itself to read books, edit and manage files, check the date and time,
 and make basic mathematical calculations.

Communication
Sensory Learning Kit (SLK)
The Sensory Learning Kit is designed to help develop the curiosity
of even the most challenged learners, and contains a set of sensory
items and written materials to create daily schedules, lesson plans,
and alternative assessments for play or functional routines.

SAM: Symbols and Meaning
The SAM guidebook provides strategies for developing a strong
sensory foundation for concepts about people, objects, actions, and
places so that symbols referring to them are meaningful.

The 18 SAM games are used to reinforce the meaning of symbols
learned in natural environments and to expand the use of symbols to
communication contexts, like books.

Tactile Connections
Tactile Connections Kit: Symbols for Communication helps teachers
create a tactile card system that is individualized for visually
impaired and blind learners who have additional disabilities and/
or lack a formal means of communication or literacy. The tactile
symbols are created when
part of an object is mounted
on a hand-sized card
representing core vocabulary
categories (e.g. people,
places, actions, objects,
etc.). This kit provides some
of the essential components
that assist in a system’s
construction and application.

                                                                       7

STEM
Code Jumper™

Jumper! Originally designed by Microsoft and developed by APH,
this fun and engaging product takes block coding off the screen
and puts it on the table in front of you, making it accessible to all
students. Brightly colored plastic pods with oversized buttons and
knobs are connected by “jumper cables” (thick cords) to physically
create computer code that can tell stories, play music, and even
crack jokes.
