                        November 2021
AZA Animal Programs Tip-of-the-Month
If you receive a deadline notification email for your Animal Program, you can determine which document
is due by looking at the subject line of the email. If the subject line says, “XX SSP Deadline” The SSP
Breeding & Transfer Plan is due. If the subject line says, “XX Studbook Deadline” the AZA Regional
Studbook is due. If the subject line says, “XX TAG Deadline” the Regional Collection Plan is due. If you
need an extension, contact your TAG Chair and the AZA Conservation, Management, & Welfare
Sciences Department prior to the upcoming deadline and be sure to request a new deadline date.
Please keep an eye out for these automated deadline notification emails, and note that once the actual
deadline has passed, the extension request must come from your Institutional Liaison (IL) or Director.

PMCTrack Tip-of-the-Month
You can find the upcoming SSP planning meeting schedule without even logging into PMCTrack! Also on
the main page of PMCTrack is the list of recently finalized SSP Breeding and Transfer Plans and those
that are currently in draft.

SSP Sustainability Award
AZA is currently accepting applications for the SSP Sustainability Award. This award, presented at AZA's
Mid-Year Meeting, celebrates the successes of Species Survival Plan® (SSP) Programs and recognizes
initiatives that have a quantifiable impact on the long-term sustainability of an SSP's managed population.
We encourage any Animal Program Leader (i.e., TAG Chair, SSP Coordinator, Studbook Keeper, and
Scientific Advisory Group Chair) to apply for this award. This is a great opportunity to showcase your
achievement with an SSP population to the AZA community.

The application can be found on the AZA website and should be submitted to Rob Vernon by December
20, 2021.
