AMPLIFY BC What is Amplify BC Amplify BC is a $7.5 million grant from the Province of BC to support the growth and activity of the BC music industry. These funds will be administered by Creative BC from April 2019 through the end of March 2020.

ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES 1 Sound recording activities that take place in BC 2 Music Videos produced in BC 3 Marketing activities
EMERGING ARTISTS: $1,000 - $10,000 Has the May basic apply as anbuilding blocks individual or as aofbusiness. a career in music. Has experience recording and releasing music. Two song minimum. Has earned approximately $2,000 in a recent year from music activities. Has an online presence for their project (Facebook page, website, socials).
ESTABLISHED ARTISTS $1,000 - $35,000 Earns a significant portion of their livelihood from music. Supported by at least one industry professional. Extensive body of recorded work. National or international touring or presentation history. Substantial audience and media track record.
Who Qualifies as a BC Based Artist? Artists living in BC for at least 200 of the previous 365 1 days prior to applying. Artists who have filed income tax returns in BC in the 2 taxation year prior. Artists with where the majority or at least 50% of the 3 members meet the BC residency requirement.
What is a Project Plan? • The narrative portion of your application • 3-4 pages or half a page per question • Explain the rational for the items in your budget • Talk about the business plan and growth strategy for your project • Quantify your goals with useful numbers and dollars • Provide context for where you are at in your career and where you want to go • Demonstrate you have a clear plan for how you will complete your project on time

2019-2020 Updates • Public funding for indigenous artist projects can equal up to 100% of the total budget from combined sources. • Grant writing fees are now included as an eligible expense for artists with self-declared disabilities or English language barriers. • Maximum grant for established artists is now $35,000. • Release requirement may be waived for established artists starting new projects. New projects must show how they build on the artist’s existing audience and success. • Social media spends cannot exceed 15% of the total budget.

VANCOUVER MUSIC FUND What is The Vancouver Music Fund? The City of Vancouver has allocated $300,000 to support the growth and development of the Vancouver Music Strategy, developed to address current gaps in the music ecosystem.
Three new funding programs for underrepresented artists and groups in Vancouver: 1 Demo Program 2 Music Video Program 3 Industry Catalyst Program
Who are underrepresented groups? Those who experience systemic barriers to funding may include those who identify as: • Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh; • Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Non-Status, Metis or Inuit); • People of Colour; • People who live with disabilities; • Minority language speakers, cultural communities, newcomers and refugees; and/or • Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer people, gender diverse, non-binary, Two-Spirit
What’s new about these programs? ➢ For underrepresented artists and groups ➢ In Vancouver ➢ No business registration required ➢ 100% funding ➢ Projects must occur between June 13, 2019 and June 30, 2020 ➢ Deadline July 24, 2019 ➢ Completions June 30, 2020
DEMO PROGRAM INTENT: Supports new and emerging artists from underrepresented groups to create demo recordings and engage in mentorship and skill development with a BC producer. WHO CAN APPLY? Joint application for BC producers and New and Emerging Vancouver artists. GRANT AMOUNTS: $2,000 HOW TO APPLY: Artist Pitch, Producer Pitch, online application form DEADLINE: July 24, 2019
MUSIC VIDEO PROGRAM INTENT: Supports the creation of music videos for new and emerging artists from underrepresented groups to build audiences WHO CAN APPLY?
