AIIA Event Descriptions by State ACT Events Ministerial Forums (ACT focus) A few times a year, the AIIA Federal & ACT Council host a special ministerial forum with key Federal Government Ministers, such as the Minister for Digital Transformation. This is a 2 hour lunchtime event with networking opportunities before and after the formalities. The Ministers discuss achievements, key priorities, upcoming initiatives and digital investment priorities, and often make new announcements. There are opportunities for guests to ask questions of the Minister at the conclusion of the presentation. The audience is typically between 200-300 predominately senior ICT industry leaders and Government guests. Key benefits for sponsors include brand visibility and invitations to a pre-event briefing with the Minister with a small group of guests where there are opportunities for questions prior to the main event. Canberra Managers’ Forums (ACT only) Canberra Managers’ Forums are a series of sit down luncheon events which attract an audience of between 150- 250 predominately senior ICT industry leaders and Government guests. Speakers include CIOs and First Assistant Secretaries of major government agencies such as Department of Defence, Department of Human Services, Digital Transformation Agency and Department of Home Affairs. The speakers share information about Government initiatives, ICT strategies and future challenges and opportunities. At the end of the luncheon there is a Q&A session with the speaker. There are networking opportunities for guests both before and after the event. These events are very popular and are often sold out. NSW Events Ministerial Forums (NSW focus) Typically 100+ attendees, the NSW Ministerial Forums are held as a sit down 2 course lunch at a 4-5 star venue. These events features either one keynote speaker such as a Minister, or multiple Government Agency speakers presenting as part of a panel. Briefings (NSW) These events attract 60+ attendees and are aligned to one of AIIA’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) or a key thought leadership / area of interest. AIIA Event Descriptions by State Vic Events Ministerial Forum (Victoria focus) In Q1 each year, the AIIA Victoria Council host a Ministerial Forum which features a keynote address by the Minister for Innovation. The event is designed to provide the Minister with the opportunity to discuss achievements, key priorities, upcoming initiatives and opportunities for the ICT industry to collaborate with government. This event also often includes key announcements relevant to the local ICT industry. A 2.5 hour lunch event, which includes networking opportunities before, during and post the event, the Ministerial Forum attracts an annual audience of between 150 and 300 attendees, ranging from senior ICT industry leaders and executives – a mix of vendors and suppliers, as well as a large audience of Government guests. Sponsors at the higher sponsorship levels have the unique opportunity to be involved in a pre-event VIP roundtable session with the Minister and are also seated on the head table with the Minister. Government & ICT Supplier Networking Forum (Victoria only) An annual event held in Q4 each year, the Government & ICT Supplier Networking Forum is designed to provide the Victorian ICT community with the opportunity to hear from a number of government CIOs / CXOs regarding their ICT initiatives, requirements, opportunities to partner etc. The event includes a combination of keynote presentations and panel sessions and is designed to start the narrative for ways in which companies can work with government to drive the Victorian economy. A key feature of this event is the networking opportunities and as such, at least 50% or more of the event time is dedicated to networking, with the event flow designed to encourage networking and ‘movement around the room’. This event attracts from 150 – 300 attendees each year and is also heavily attended by government representatives, supporting the networking aspect. AIIA Public Policy Tribe Events (Victoria only) Commencing July 2018, the AIIA in Victoria introduced a monthly ‘Public Sector Tribe’ lunch and networking event, held on the third Thursday of each month. This series of events is focused on building a committed community across the tech industry and government, recognising strengths in building networks and holding regular discussions to address many of the issues facing our industry. Central to these monthly tribe events will be presentations from government executives on their charters and challenges. Qld Events Sundowners (Qld) Sundowner events are typically run as an after work networking event (5.00pm-7.00pm). AIIA Queensland’s popular ‘Meet the CXO’ networking series of Sundowner events are designed to enable the ICT community to get up close and personal with leading CXOs from large corporations and government agencies. Unlike other networking events, speakers at these events are potential buyers who provide attendees with a personal account of their career to date, their current priorities and their direction for the next 12 months which assists attendees in determining how they might work with them in the future. These events are operated in accordance with Chatham House rules and offer the perfect way to meet potential clients. Previous speakers have included: Elizabeth Harper (GHD), Martin Bradshaw (TMR), Martin Holzworth (Super Retail Group), Greg Watts (PSBA), Dean Jennings (QAO), Michael Bromley (BoQ). Luncheons (Qld) Typically run as a Friday lunch event (12.00pm-2.00pm) and attract vendors from the ICT industry. QLD Luncheons typically see approximately 100+ AIIA members, non-members and vendors from across the ICT industry attending to engage in thought-leadership and networking with industry peers. The luncheon format generally includes a presentation by one keynote speaker, followed by a panel discussion where guests have the opportunity to engage with the panel members which can generate valuable dialogue from the audience.
